Be Happy: Salman Khan’s father-daughter movie has ‘no similarity’ with Abhishek Bachchan’s Prime Video film, says writer Remo D’Souza

Abhishek Bachchan is gearing up for a sensational debut on streaming platforms with his upcoming film, “Be Happy.” This heartwarming tale delves into the special bond between fathers and daughters, setting it apart from other films like Salman Khan’s production that also focus on this relationship. However, in an interview, the director and writer of the movie, Remo D’Souza, has emphasized that “Be Happy” doesn’t share a similar narrative with Salman Khan’s work.

According to Remo D’Souza, when he spoke to PTI, he mentioned that in 2017, he presented a script for a father-daughter movie to Salman Khan, which was initially called “Dancing Dad.” However, the plot of this film he penned bears no resemblance to his upcoming movie titled Be Happy, featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Inayat Verma in the lead roles.

The filmmaker-choreographer mentioned that he’s unsure where the working title for Khan’s movie originated, as it’s something different and the script is still in the hands of the actor for Tiger 3. Remo explained, “The current script bears no resemblance to the previous one.” He also disclosed that he has several scripts centered around a father-daughter relationship, with the storyline for Be Happy being developed during the COVID-19 lockdown.

In our conversation, the director of Race 3 shared that while his films might appear as commercial productions, they are actually inspired by real-life events or personal experiences. For instance, in the movie “Be Happy,” the character Shiv bears a thematic resemblance to the director’s own father. Despite the film appearing to revolve around dance, it is not based on dance but rather tells a heartwarming story of a father and daughter, with additional complex layers that were challenging to portray.

The director-choreographer shared some insights about his upcoming projects, mentioning, “We’re attempting to create a movie with Nassar sir as well. This project isn’t dance-related but something new and distinct.” He also provided an update on ABDC 3, confirming that the third installment of the dance-musical franchise “definitely” will be released.

Under the production of Remo D’Souza Entertainment, the film titled “Be Happy” is helmed by director Remo D’Souza. His wife, Lizelle Remo D’Souza, also takes part in the production process. The script was collaboratively written by Remo D’Souza, Tushar Hiranandani, Kanishka Singh Deo, and Chirag Garg. Joining Abhishek and Inayat on screen are Nora Fatehi, Nassar, Johnny Lever, and Harleen Sethi. This entertaining production is scheduled for release on Prime Video on March 14, 2025.
