Ever since it became known that Natasha Rothwell’s character Belinda would reappear on The White Lotus, following her role alongside Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya in Season 1, we’ve been eager to see where the storyline for the masseuse from the Maui hotel branch would unfold. Before the latest episode, we were primarily worried about her when we spotted Tanya’s husband Greg in Thailand, but we couldn’t help feeling a bit proud of her for finding romance with Pornchai in Episode 5.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I recently got the chance to chat with the talented Natasha Rothwell about the upcoming season of our favorite show. Of course, I couldn’t resist delving into one particular intriguing development – the budding relationship between Belinda and Pornchai, played by Dom Hetrakul, the resort’s wellness guru at the Thai retreat. Here’s her reaction to this captivating plot twist we uncovered during our conversation:
Have you had a chance to notice Pornchai? He has a striking symmetry about him, and I must say, I was pleased rather than upset when the casting was announced. Apart from being visually appealing, [Dom Hetrakul] is an exceptional actor, and you know my preference for romantic comedies, don’t you? The essence of many rom-coms lies in workplace romance. In this story, we see Belinda starting to feel something stir within her. I believe it’s because Pornchai is providing for her so generously, as Belinda has spent much of her life giving to others. As the old saying goes, you can’t draw from an empty well. And Pornchai is doing more than just filling her emotional tank – it’s quite thrilling to watch this unfold.
In simpler terms, Dom Hetrakul is well-known Thai actor who’s been acting since the 1990s, appearing in numerous films and television shows. He will have an opportunity to showcase his talent in one of the most anticipated series of 2025, “The White Lotus” Season 3, by portraying a charming romantic relationship between Pornchai and Belinda.

During my chat with Rothwell, she jokingly remarked that Hetrakul is visually appealing and further added that the storyline brought joy to her heart, given her love for romantic comedies. She also expressed similar sentiments in our conversation.
It seems crucial to me that we portray love between plus-sized individuals on television, as such moments are frequently given to those with smaller body types. Placing a character like her on the screen, where she is valued and cherished, carries a significant impact. It’s quite empowering to see this representation.
It’s truly refreshing to see a robust argument being made here. It’s unfortunate yet inspiring that plus-sized characters are seldom given opportunities to explore romantic storylines, like in The White Lotus Season 3. However, this instance serves as valuable representation and demonstrates how the show is capable of challenging stereotypes and overcoming barriers.
Among all characters in the season, it’s quite refreshing to notice Belinda being involved romantically. This deviates from the usual portrayals we are accustomed to, and it’s a significant step forward for diversity, as it showcases individuals of various body types. Interestingly, this aspect of her storyline isn’t explicitly discussed; instead, it’s just one part of Belinda’s character development.
In addition to the romantic moment involving Belinda in Episode 5, there were also many discussions online about the brotherly kiss and Sam Rockwell’s monologue. Of course, throughout this, we couldn’t help but worry about whether Belinda would be safe by the end of the series.
