Belinda’s Shocking Betrayal Will Haunt You!

In the usual fashion of The White Lotus, each season introduces a fresh set of characters. However, unlike other seasons, Season 3 saw the return of two familiar faces: Belinda (portrayed by Natasha Rothwell) from the first season and Greg (played by Jon Gries), who appeared in both Seasons 1 and 2. Their paths crossed significantly, shaping Belinda’s narrative in an unexpected way.

An unexpected twist unfolded as Belinda, who was thought likely to perish, instead found herself among the survivors. This left many viewers in shock, given her high odds of being the eventual victim. Yet, their lives are now interwoven. However, Belinda’s actions towards Pornchai (Dom Hetrakul) have left fans disheartened and with a familiar sense of unease.

Belinda’s Story From Season 1

In the first season of The White Lotus resort in Hawaii, the spa manager named Belinda develops a connection with affluent guest Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge). Impressed by Belinda’s skills and understanding, Tanya expresses a desire to help when Belinda shares her aspiration of opening her own spa someday. Tanya even hints at potential investment, sparking enthusiasm in Belinda. Motivated to show Tanya the merit of an investment in her venture, Belinda starts drafting a business plan to demonstrate her dedication and the value of such an opportunity.

When Tanya encounters Greg, the charming older fellow residing in the neighboring room, they engage in a chat, and she’s smitten. The duo go out on a date, giving the impression that he’s interested in her. He mentions having a terminal illness, but his intentions of exploiting her financially are glaringly evident. Ironically, Tanya informs Belinda that she has chosen to avoid friendships based on financial dealings, effectively squashing Belinda’s hopes. She leaves Belinda an ample tip, but Belinda is devastated as her aspirations are no longer feasible.

Belinda and Pornchai’s Story

In the upcoming Season 3, I find myself in Thailand, immersed in a work exchange program. The goal is to grasp their unique methods and therapies, enriching my skills for the resort back in Hawaii. My mentor is Pornchai, a quiet yet charismatic member of the spa staff, who guides me through their diverse treatments. Interestingly, I also learn from him as we work together. From the start, it’s clear there’s an undeniable connection between us, especially during our sessions where he receives a massage from me in just his underwear. Initially taken aback, I sense his affection towards me as well.

As their bond strengthens, they share a meal together and later, she invites him to stay overnight. Initially, it appears harmless; they chat, enjoy some wine, and he playfully startles her with a hidden snake in her room, causing her to jump. However, when the moment arrives for her to open the door, he makes his move, and they spend the night together, symbolizing a sweet development in their relationship.

After collaborating, Belinda expresses her ambition to start her own spa once more. He proposes a potential joint venture, and Brenda appears open to the prospect. Sharing a business partner with expertise in the field, as well as a unique value proposition, could be beneficial. Furthermore, two investments can be stronger than one. They don’t delve deeper into the idea at that moment, but it seems they will discuss it further before Belinda leaves home.

Belinda Takes Greg’s Deal

At the resort, Belinda encounters Greg, a character from the show whom she finds unpleasant, who she later realizes is the man Tanya met in Hawaii. After exchanging furtive glances, she decides to speak with him during dinner one evening. However, he denies knowing her, introducing himself as Gary instead. Despite his denial, Belinda remains convinced and conducts an online investigation once back in her room.

In that location, she discovers that Tanya has tragically passed away, under suspicion of murder, and Greg is being sought for questioning. Comparing a picture of Greg to the man present in Thailand, she verifies that they are one and the same. She gives him several cold stares when they encounter each other, until finally, he comprehends that his actions have been exposed.

At Greg’s invitation, Belinda initially hesitates to attend a party at his house, but her son Zion (Nicholas Duvernay) persuades her to listen to what he has to say. Greg proposes giving her $100,000 in memory of Tanya, hoping it will ensure peace for both parties. Belinda expresses moral reservations but is torn by the prospect. Meanwhile, Zion points out that the money could help fulfill Belinda’s dream of opening a spa and suggests she might be able to negotiate for more from Greg. Caught in this predicament, Belinda is left pondering her decision.

With Zion’s assistance, they reunite with Greg once more for another round of negotiations. Zion subtly reminds him of the potential trouble he might face and casually mentions his knowledge of Tanya’s considerable wealth from public records. He suggests that $5 million would be a more equitable sum, almost insignificant compared to Greg’s amassed fortune. Greg contemplates this offer, and Belinda nervously monitors her bank account every few hours, hoping for a transfer. Eventually, the funds arrive, bringing great joy to both Zion and Belinda. He encourages her to start her business now, but she requests some time first to savor her newfound wealth.

Being Rich Changes Belinda

In the final episode, with everyone preparing to leave after the unfortunate killings, Pornchai visits Belinda only to find out that she’s departing prematurely despite plans for a longer stay. In an ironic turn of events, Belinda gives Pornchai the cold shoulder much like Tanya did to her. She explains her early departure as changes in circumstances, but evades any discussion about their planned spa day. Instead, she mentions other responsibilities and states that her situation has changed, hinting at an unexpected force pulling her away, similar to how Greg lured Tanya away.

It’s clear that Belinda is thrilled about her newfound wealth and isn’t finding the thought of returning to work at a spa alluring at the moment. Instead, she’s more inclined towards taking some time off for relaxation rather than diving into business immediately. However, it’s worth noting that should she decide to invest in a business one day, she has no intention of involving Pornchai in the venture, even though he has been as instrumental in nurturing his dreams as Tanya was hers. There’s nothing wrong with her choice in this matter.

Pornchai and Belinda were both deeply hurt when Tanya’s actions mirrored what she did to Belinda. Pornchai was one of the most beloved characters in the series, and this incident seemed to have hit him particularly hard. Initially, Belinda had feelings for Pornchai that went beyond a casual relationship. However, once she gained some wealth, she decided to leave without giving him any farewell. It appeared as if she had forgotten about the bond they shared.

If Belinda comes back for season four, it could re-emerge the story, leading to Pornchai uncovering the reason behind Belinda’s hasty departure and potentially exposing Greg.

Regardless of the circumstances, Belinda behaved unfairly towards Pornchai despite all he had done for her and his kindness towards her. Such treatment was unjustified. Although it’s reasonable to expect a change in behavior following a significant windfall, it’s unfortunate that this shift led to hurting someone else’s feelings. Belinda has every right to her wealth, considering the tragic loss of Tanya, and Greg has enough wealth to circumvent legal issues. However, there’s no substitute for integrity, and Belinda compromised some of hers by neglecting Pornchai.
