Yet, his presence has sparked much debate, even leading to a public rebuke from former Disney child star, who criticized Rourke and their past collaboration in 2020.

As a movie enthusiast, I found myself making headlines this past week following some controversial remarks I made towards another Big Brother housemate, JoJo Siwa. After my insensitive comments and use of offensive language circulated online, Bella Thorne decided to share one of those posts on her social media platform, expressing her own thoughts regarding my actions. In her post, she penned:

This individual was extremely unpleasant to work with, utterly disgusting. During a film scene, I found myself on my knees with my hands tied behind me. This man was supposed to use a metal grinder on my knee cap but instead, he repeatedly used it on my genitals through my jeans. The impact left bruises on my pelvic bone. Working alongside Mickey was undoubtedly one of the most distressing experiences I’ve ever had as an actress.

Thorne didn’t stop her critical assessment of Rourke with that statement alone. In a subsequent post, she revealed that during their professional collaboration, Rourke aimed to embarrass her as much as he could. She stated this about the actor who gained fame in movies like “9 & 1/2 Weeks” in the late ’80s: “[He] wanted to humiliate me as much as possible when we worked together.

I endured countless embarrassing ordeals during that film production at his insistence, such as accelerating and revving his engine for a scene so he could splatter me with dirt. It seemed like he found amusement in publicly humiliating me in front of everyone on set.

She further noted that Rourke was equally challenging to collaborate with for multiple reasons, such as retreating to his trailer and flatly refusing to emerge for filming scenes, which necessitated her going to plead with him to carry on. Consequently, the production of the movie could be completed. In response to these allegations, Rourke’s representative has issued a statement defending the actor, as reported by Variety.

In my perspective as a movie reviewer, let me clarify that the allegations against Mr. Rourke are quite grave. However, he vehemently refutes any intentionally harmful behavior. To set the record straight, he claims he was never informed about such issues during the filming process and only learned about Ms. Thorne’s discomfort recently.

Historically, Thorne has kept private any discomfort she experienced until now, which isn’t unusual in Hollywood. Rourke, unfortunately, can’t respond personally to Thorne’s accusations from their past work collaboration. However, it’s likely he will address these issues once he exits the Big Brother house and is freed from media restrictions.
