The movie, despite facing criticism for certain contentious elements, has endured and thrived due to those very controversies. In this satire of Hollywood, a standout performance that took everyone by surprise was the profanity-laced portrayal of movie producer Les Grossman by [actor’s name].
The film, despite being criticized for some parts, has been successful because of those very controversial elements. One unexpected and jaw-dropping performance in this Hollywood critique was [actor’s name] as the swear-happy movie producer Les Grossman.
Despite boasting a stellar cast that included Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, Matthew McConaughey, and Stiller himself, it was Tom Cruise who outshone everyone in the film with his over-the-top character. There were even whispers of Cruise getting his own spinoff movie. However, now it seems like we’ve turned that page as Stiller has apparently ended any hope of seeing Cruise reprise his role as Les Grossman again, as he mentioned during an interview with Extra.
Over the course of several years, conversations about this topic have occurred, indeed. To clarify, Tom Cruise – a person I greatly admire and consider one of the most outstanding movie stars ever – has been suggested as a possibility, but at present, there are no plans in motion. However, we have talked about it previously.
This news might be disheartening for those still clinging onto a sliver of expectation that Cruise may take on the role of Grossman again amidst his packed schedule of action blockbusters. On the contrary, others will likely be content with seeing Cruise perform death-defying stunts from great heights, as entertainment for them.
A Les Grossman Movie Seemed Possible a Couple of Years Ago
In 2022, talk about a Tropic Thunder spinoff movie centered around Cruise’s character became more plausible, given Stiller’s recent remarks. This possibility was even more surprising because Cruise himself hinted at the prospect of returning to his beloved, yet somewhat guilty-pleasure role during the Top Gun: Maverick premiere on the red carpet.
I’m not certain right now, but I did portray Les Grossman at the MTV Awards. It could potentially be fun to do it again, but I can’t say for sure. For now, I’m simply enjoying this evening and need to focus on completing the Mission: Impossible sequels. When I’ve done that, I’ll take a break to relax tonight.
Previous reports hinted at Cruise and his “Mission: Impossible” director, Christopher McQuarrie, possibly collaborating on multiple new ventures, one of which was rumored to be a musical film with a “song-and-dance” theme that potentially included Grossman. However, these speculations soon disappeared without a trace and haven’t resurfaced in more recent discussions.
Although Les Grossman appears to have been retired for now, Tom Cruise may still reprise his role in future. As Cruise enters his 60s, he won’t be able to perform high-risk stunts in films like “Mission: Impossible” indefinitely. Instead, he might seek out a more realistic role to replace these action-packed ones in the coming years. While Grossman isn’t exactly low-key, it’s safe to say he wouldn’t be jumping out of airplanes or running on top of speeding trains like some of his other characters.
