Actress Fan Bingbing from China, known for her roles in “I Am Not Madame Bovary” and “The 355”, and German actress and director Maria Schrader, who has worked on films like “I’m Your Man” and “She Said”, have been announced as jurors alongside president Todd Haynes at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).
Berlin revealed its global panel for the 2025 edition, taking place from February 13th to the 23rd, during which the director of ‘Far from Heaven’ and ‘Carol,’ Todd Haynes, will lead a jury comprising four women and three men who will decide this year’s Gold and Silver Bear recipients.
In addition to Fan and Schrader, the Berlinale jury for 2025 comprises Moroccan-French filmmaker Nabil Ayouch (known for movies like “Much Loved” and “Horses of God”), German costume designer Bina Daigeler (who has worked on films such as “TÁR” and “Mulan”), Argentine director Rodrigo Moreno (“The Delinquents” being one of his works), and American film critic and podcast host Amy Nicholson.
Or, more informally:

Haynes boasts a deep connection with the Berlin Film Festival, as his first full-length film, titled “Poison“, was honored with the Teddy Award for outstanding LGBTQ+ cinema at the event back in 1991.
The 75th Berlin International Film Festival commences with the out-of-competition world debut of “The Light,” a new drama from renowned German director Tom Tykwer (known for “Run Lola Run,” “Cloud Atlas,” and “Three”). Some of the films competing this year include “Blue Moon” directed by Richard Linklater, starring Ethan Hawke and Margaret Qualley; “Dreams” by Mexican director Michel Franco, featuring Jessica Chastain; the French film “The Ice Tower” from Lucile Hadžihalilović, starring Marion Cotillard, Gaspar Noé, and August Diehl; a film titled “What Does That Nature Say to You?” from Hong Sang-soo, who has won four Silver Bears; and “Hot Milk,” the directorial debut of Polish screenwriter Rebecca Lenkiewicz (responsible for “Ida” and “Disobedience”), starring Emma Mackey and Vicky Krieps.
This year, Tilda Swinton, a frequent attendee at Berlinale, will be honored with the Honorary Golden Bear for her lifelong achievements. Over the years, she has showcased a total of 26 films in Berlin.
