As a passionate fan of luxurious experiences and social hubs, I am thrilled to learn about the upcoming opening of Gravitas in Beverly Hills. The description of this new workspace and social club leaves me in awe, and I can’t help but feel a strong connection to its creators’ vision.
Executives from the Golden Triangle and creative minds from Hollywood will soon have an elegant new haven where they can work, dine, wine, and more.
A modern workspace and social club named Gravitas is slated to launch its 28,000-square-foot facility in Beverly Hills towards the end of this year. Featuring Carrera and Calacatta marble throughout, this multi-story establishment comes equipped with a restaurant offering indoor-outdoor dining, an open-air garden bar boasting a clear Santa Monica Boulevard view, temperature-regulated wine storage units, exclusive dining nooks, a recording studio, two private rooms, a cutting-edge conference room, and a luxury chauffeur service using “G-Cars.”
On the second level, there will be a separate entrance and hidden elevator access for exclusive use by members. They can arrange for rides via the Gravitas app or retrieve their assigned vehicles from the exclusive parking garage.
Brandon Steven and Seth Glassman, a Kansas auto dealership and health club owner, as well as a veteran from the hospitality industry respectively, came up with the concept for Gravitas. They met when Glassman opened 6S Steakhouse in Wichita in 2017, where Steven is originally from. These two individuals emphasize the importance of providing exceptional customer service at Gravitas, which caters to C-suite executives, creatives, and individuals who inspire innovation and motivation according to Steven.
Created by Kelly Architects, known for their work on Gucci Osteria, Public School, Clifton’s Republic, and numerous upscale Downtown bars, this impressive club is a fusion of various global inspirations that have inspired Steven over the years. The designs showcase breathtaking terrazzo flooring and marble walls, light wood paneling, and reflective ceiling accents. A circular bar with seating for 26 people will eventually function as both a sushi or omakase bar and a culinary expansion. The garden bar, accommodating up to 100 guests, offers an open view of Santa Monica Boulevard; elsewhere, a living wall adorned with seasonal plants, which Steven compares to the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
“Steven has been privileged to visit some of the world’s top restaurants and resorts. He’s always had a strong appreciation for design. As for the final touches, he mentions a subtle design reference to the Golden Triangle on the travertine floor at the entrance.”
Steven had been planning Gravitas for several years, with the goal of creating a high-end, convenient destination near his friends’ offices in Beverly Hills. He came up with the design for this venture before the pandemic hit. “This idea was born out of a need,” he explains. “Whenever we wanted to meet for lunch or drinks and then dinner, we never found a place where we all enjoyed having great drinks first, followed by lunch, and then more drinks and dinner.”
He recruited longtime friend Glassman as the managing partner to spearhead culinary and event programming. On the F&B team, chef Preston Madson (Barbuto) will lead the culinary program, while sommelier Raphael Guirguis and mixologist Yael Vengroff will create the wine and cocktail menu. Former Mother Wolf general manager Josh Hering will head up day-to-day management.
“I can imagine jazz brunch on a Sunday, then it converts to a sports bar upstairs,” says Steven.
According to Glassman, “one of the most exciting aspects is that it’s not just about conducting business and having dinner like at other clubs. Instead, there’s always something happening here, and you can visit at various times throughout the day for a variety of activities.”
The annual membership fee is set at $5,500, and there’s a one-time payment of $2,500 for new members. If you’re under thirty years old, your yearly contribution will amount to $4,000. For couples, the combined annual fee comes up to $7,500.
At the age of 25, I yearned for a hub like this where I could connect for business and networking. The thought of having an office or conference room, podcast space, or private dining areas was beyond my reach financially. Yet, I knew that one day I would be able to afford such luxuries. My goal was to surround myself with driven and ambitious individuals, just like me. And that’s exactly what we’ve created here – a versatile space where you can accomplish it all.
In a membership format, Glassman shares, we can provide enhanced services that go beyond the ordinary experience. Members frequent the establishment more than typical customers at a traditional restaurant. For me, it’s all about hospitality and excellent service, getting acquainted with people and surpassing their expectations. This means remembering their preferred drinks, dishes, and seating preferences to create an even more personalized experience in our members-only venue.
As a gamer, I’m excited about this project because it’s not just about creating something visually stunning, but also filling a missing gap. In the bustling area of Camden, there have been numerous restaurant openings – Cipriani, Marea, Funke, and Steak 48 to name a few. But what sets this place apart is its role as a gathering spot. After dinner, where do people in Beverly Hills go for a nightcap or to enjoy some jazz? There are other options, but none quite like this. So even if I’ve had my fill of delicious food, I look forward to spending more time here and connecting with others.
