Bhagam Bhag 2 to happen without Govinda? Actor shares if he is reuniting with original cast

As a die-hard fan who has grown up watching the hilarious antics of Govinda and his cohorts in films like Bhagam Bhag, I can’t help but feel a pang of excitement and apprehension at the same time upon hearing the news of a sequel.

Back in 2006, Priyadarshan created a hilarious movie titled Bhagam Bhag, starring the comedic trio of Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal. Over the years, this film’s unique humor and unforgettable scenes have become internet memes, solidifying its reputation as a cult classic. Today, twenty years later, talks about a sequel are heating up. However, it has been revealed that Govinda, one of the original stars, hasn’t received any communication regarding the eagerly awaited sequel. He also shared his thoughts on whether he would be involved in the film.

In an engaging conversation with Mid-day, I, Govinda, shared an intriguing piece of information: I haven’t received any offers or had discussions regarding the comedy sequel Bhagam Bhag 2. Contrary to rumors, there are tales of me starring not only in Bhagam Bhag 2 but also in numerous other sequels, including Partner.

Next year, the long-awaited follow-up to Priyadarshan’s movie “Bhagam Bhag” will start filming. When questioned about possibly being part of it, Govinda made clear that his participation depends on various important factors.

Instead of basing his decision on the popular wave of sequels, he emphasized the significance of considering the script quality, characters, director’s vision, and overall project aspects before making a final call.

Recently, on The Great Indian Kapil Show, actor Govinda excited fans by disclosing his upcoming movie projects: Bayen Haath Ka Khel, Pinky Darling, and Len Den: It’s All About Business. Renowned for his exceptional comedic skills, the return of this veteran actor after fewer screen appearances in recent years is set to be a joy for viewers. Eagerly anticipating these films, he mentioned that they were selected with care, signaling a new, thrilling phase since his last release, Aa Gaya Hero in 2019.

Previously, a reliable source shared with TopMob that Sarita Ashwin Varde from Roaring River Productions has obtained the rights for Bhagam Bhag and intends to team up with Shemaroo Entertainment to create its follow-up. This upcoming project is named Bhagam Bhag 2 and aspires to reunite Akshay Kumar with one of his most memorable comedy series.

According to the source, Akshay Kumar considers “Hera Pheri,” “Bhagam Bhag,” and “Garam Masala” among his most cherished films. He has already secured the franchise rights for both “Hera Pheri” and “Bhagam Bhag.” At present, a new team of writers is working on the script for the sequel to these beloved comedies.
