Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Review: Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit led horror-comedy runs on gags and ends up being a middling affair

Plot:

As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the film industry, I must say that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is a rollercoaster ride of laughter and suspense, albeit with some bumps along the way. The first half of the movie is reminiscent of a haunted house party where everyone is trying to outdo each other with their witty banter, making it a delightful watch. Kartik Aaryan and Arun Kushwah share an outstanding chemistry that adds fuel to the comedic fire. However, the jokes written for Kartik seem to miss the mark, feeling like they were penned with Akshay Kumar’s character in mind.

In a new twist, the character Kartik Aaryan, portraying a fraudulent ghost exorcist known as Rooh Baba, is summoned to Rakt Ghat mansion by Meera (Triptii Dimri) and her uncle (Rajesh Sharma). They’ve asked for his services in connection with a significant task, promising him a substantial reward of one crore rupees. The mansion is steeped in a macabre past, and it appears that Rooh Baba might have some personal ties to the location. Skeptical about the tale, Meera and her uncle aim to debunk the myth so they can sell the property. However, as they approach the mansion before Durga Ashtmi, things become increasingly spooky with a touch of humor.

What works for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

One way of rephrasing the given text could be: “The humor in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 comes from select dialogues and situations that leave you in stitches. The first part of the movie maintains a smooth pace, with the side characters adding depth to an otherwise ordinary script through their sharp dialogue delivery. Kartik Aaryan and Arun Kushwah have a fantastic chemistry, making their performances enjoyable. The song ‘Jaana Samjho Na’ fits seamlessly into the film. The visual effects are well executed. Overall, the movie has a luxurious feel to it.

What doesn’t work for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

The humor in many jokes intended for Kartik Aaryan often falls flat, possibly due to them being crafted with another actor, Rooh Baba Akshay Kumar, in mind. It seems that the role is more about imitating a character rather than allowing Kartik Aaryan to infuse it with his unique charisma.

Kartik and Triptii’s romantic storyline doesn’t impact the overall plot, as their screen chemistry falls short of creating a compelling desire for further scenes. Unfortunately, Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit deliver underwhelming performances due to weak character development and overly dramatic characteristics. Additionally, the ending fails to deliver an satisfying resolution.

Performances and Direction

Kartik Aaryan portrays Rooh Baba acceptably, although he brings an impressive celebrity aura, he lacks standout lines and moments that create a significant impact. Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit are usually believable actresses, but they tend to overact in this movie, making the conflicts seem contrived and artificial. Triptii Dimri doesn’t receive much material to develop her character, but she still manages to make a strong on-screen presence.

In the movie, it’s Sanjay Mishra, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, and other reliable supporting actors who truly shine in delivering humorous scenes. As for Director Anees Bazmee, his efforts show a mix of success and shortcomings.

Final Verdict of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 offers some chuckles for viewers, yet falls short of being truly impressive due to its contrived plot and script inconsistencies. While it’s worth considering watching as a family outing, keep in mind that it may not live up to the expectations of an exceptional film.
