As a long-time fan of Big Sean and his music, I’ve watched him grow from a young Detroit artist to a household name. His latest release, “Fighting Fires,” is no exception. While it shares a beat with Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s powerful anthem “My Soul,” Sean manages to put his own spin on it and make it his own.
According to HipHopDX’s report, Big Sean is using a beat from Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Vultures 2” album for one of his own tracks.
As soon as the rap artist unveiled his track “Fighting Fires” on SoundCloud, listeners swiftly picked up on its similarity with the beat of Ye’s and $ign’s collaboration “My Soul.”
In the powerful song titled “My Soul,” issues surrounding the high rate of imprisonment among African American males are explored. Notably, this track features a guest appearance by Big TC, $ign’s brother, who is reportedly serving time for a crime he allegedly did not commit.
In contrast, “Sean’s ‘Fighting Fires'” is a track where the rapper ponders his career journey and progress. Originally hinted at in July as a collaboration with Ye, but the version uploaded to SoundCloud does not feature him.
Sean will be releasing his new album, Better Me Than You, on Friday, August 30.
