Bill Camp, Merritt Wever Board HBO’s ‘Gilded Age’ for Season 3

As a seasoned gamer of historical dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement for the third season of HBO’s The Gilded Age! With Julian Fellowes at the helm and a stellar cast led by Bill Camp as JP Morgan and Merritt Wever as Monica O’Brien, this series promises to be a captivating journey through New York society during the late 19th century.

The Gilded Age is bringing in a host of new faces for its third season.

Julian Fellowes’ HBO drama, following Downton Abbey, has brought eight new talents to its cast for season three. These include Bill Camp, Merritt Wever, Leslie Uggams, LisaGay Hamilton, Paul Alexander Nolan, Hattie Morahan, Andrea Martin, and Jessica Frances Dukes. Alongside these fresh faces, the upcoming season will also feature Phylicia Rashad, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Victoria Clark, and Jordan Donica. The production for season three is currently underway.

In my gaming world, I’d be stepping into the shoes of JP Morgan, the renowned financier, who’s locked in a power struggle with George Russell (Morgan Spector) regarding the railroad industry’s destiny. Meanwhile, Emmy-winning actress Wever takes on the role of Monica O’Brien, the estranged sister of Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon). This intriguing tale unfolds in HBO’s ‘The Outsider’, and ‘Presumed Innocent’.

In this production, Uggams (known for Roots and Deadpool) takes on the role of Mrs. Ernestine Brown, a friend of Elizabeth Kirkland’s (portrayed by Rashad) and an influential member of the distinguished Black community in Newport, Rhode Island. Meanwhile, Hamilton (recognized from The Dropout and Winning Time) portrays Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, a renowned suffragist who serves as inspiration for Peggy (played by Denée Benton), encouraging her to join the women’s rights movement. Lastly, Nolan will depict Alfred Merrick, a prosperous New York entrepreneur whom the Russells aim to win over in a potential business deal.

Morahan takes on the role of Lady Sarah Vere, the Duchess of Buckingham’s sister, who isn’t fond of the Russells. Martin portrays Madame Dashkova, a medium who professes to be able to converse with the deceased. In the series “Ozark,” Dukes assumes the character of Athena Trumbo, Dorothy’s cousin and a member of an exclusive group of affluent Black residents of Newport who encourages Peggy in her writing aspirations.

The plotline for season three of “The Gilded Age” can be summarized as follows: “Now that the old ruling class has been overthrown, New York society is in turmoil and everyone needs to adjust. However, those at the forefront of this new era might discover that embracing change comes with a price.”

I’m deeply involved in a captivating series called “The Gilded Age,” produced by HBO and Universal Television. Julian Fellowes, known for his exceptional work, is the mastermind behind this period drama, collaborating closely with Sonja Warfield on its creation. Alongside him, Gareth Neame, David Crockett, Michael Engler, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, and Bob Greenblatt serve as executive producers. Erica Dunbar graces us with her historical expertise, acting as a co-executive producer. Bernie Telsey and Adam Caldwell from The Telsey Office are in charge of casting for this magnificent production.

The following talent agencies represent the individuals mentioned:
