Billboard Names GloRilla as the Top Female Rapper of 2024

As a gamer who’s been keeping tabs on the music scene this year, I must say I’ve been thoroughly impressed with GloRilla’s meteoric rise to the top. Coming from humble beginnings and breaking through the noise in an industry dominated by powerhouses like Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion, it’s been a breath of fresh air seeing her claim the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s “10 Hottest Female Rappers of 2024″ list.

Towards the end of the year, Billboard unveiled their list titled “The Top 10 Sizzling Female Rappers in 2024.” The star of “Yeah Glo!” expressed her appreciation for fellow rappers on the list by grabbing the No. 1 spot. She edged out Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and Doechii to secure the top position.

2023 saw GloRilla’s initial singles “Cha Cha” and “Pop It” struggle to gain significant popularity. However, the following year brought a remarkable comeback for her with the chart-dominating track “Yeah Glo!” This song climbed its way into the top 30 on the Hot 100 list and further ascended to the top 15 when paired with Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be” and her summer smash hit “TGIF.” Sharing the stage with rap sensation Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla demonstrated a commanding presence, earning the title of ‘headliner energy’ and securing her place as a household name in 2024.

Apart from Sexyy Red, Latto, Doja Cat, JT, Rapsody, and Cardi B, other notable rappers on the list are also included. In an interview with Billboard, GloRilla discussed her debut album, stating, “Initially, I was set to release my debut album last year, but I was still adjusting to things and working a lot. When the new year arrived, I had the project almost completed. I thought, ‘I need to give them a mixtape before the album, as I hadn’t released anything for an entire year.’ That’s why I mentioned that I would first release a mixtape, reacquaint my audience with me, let them experience my style, and then this would prepare me for the album. The mixtape was successful and achieved what it was designed to do, which was to prepare me for my upcoming album.
