This week, Billie Eilish collaborated with Meghan Markle to provide a replacement t-shirt for a wildfire victim in Los Angeles who had lost their original one.
Duchess Meghan revealed on social media that during her visit to Altadena with Prince Harry in January, they encountered a girl who tragically lost her home in the Eaton Fire. The girl was heartbroken as she had misplaced a treasured t-shirt from one of Billie Eilish’s concerts. Markle mentioned that she doesn’t personally know Eilish, but managed to reach out to her through mutual friends Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo.
Instead of simply sending a new t-shirt, Eilish instead provided a strong care package filled with clothing items, merchandise, and even an autographed album to the 15-year-old girl, as stated by Markle.
Markle expressed her gratitude to all those lending a helping hand, whether in significant or minor ways, as they navigate the aftermath of California’s recent events. She also took a moment to express her appreciation for the first responders.
The present gift arrives following Eilish, who is a native Los Angeles resident, performing at the FireAid benefit concert last week. This marathon event spanned six hours between the Kia Forum and the Intuit Dome and is estimated to have raised $100 million for aid in the Palisades and Eaton fires. The funds will be disbursed through Los Angeles-based non-profit, the Annenberg Foundation. During the show, Eilish kicked off with a duet with Green Day, and later came back for a solo set featuring “Wildflower” and “Birds of a Feather.
On Sunday, Eilish additionally took the stage at the Grammy Awards, where she sung her popular track “Birds of a Feather” and expressed affectionately to the audience, “I adore you, L.A.
After being away from social media for five years, Markle made her comeback at the beginning of this year. Launching an Instagram account in the first week of January, she now boasts a following of 1.6 million people.
In the past three weeks, both the Palisades and Eaton fires have been entirely contained. Unfortunately, over the same period, these fires claimed at least 29 lives.
