The secret to crafting such explanations effectively is to make them seem organic rather than expository, and I believe Taylor did an excellent job of this in Season 1.

It remains unclear why Thornton hasn’t reviewed all the scripts, as it might be due to unexpected delays or rearrangements in the production process, or perhaps Sheridan prefers to keep certain plot developments a secret, even from his main actor.
