As a long-time admirer of Union LA’s innovative collaborations, I am absolutely thrilled about their latest project with Birkenstock! Being a devoted Birks wearer since my teenage years, it feels like a dream come true to see such an iconic brand teaming up with one of my favorite stores.

Birkenstock x Union LA “Bimshire” Details

Union LA is teaming up with Birkenstock to honor some preferred shoe styles of Chris Gibbs, a longtime fan of Birkenstock. Gibbs collaborated with Birkenstock to merge the expertise of his beloved models – Birkenstock’s “Boston” and “Zurich” designs – into a hybrid silhouette that draws inspiration from practical design elements.

Named after the island of Barbados, where character Gibbs originates (his Bajan heritage), this product is titled “Bimshire”. It offers a dual-tone design in neutral shades of “Beige Taupe” and “Shadow Grey”, perfectly timed for Zurich’s 60th anniversary.

This item features a tonal canvas, adorned with traditional French piping, and includes a round, sleek suede toe. Leather straps, closing the structure, are secured by Birkenstock’s distinctive buckle design. The footbed boasts an ergonomic shape, coated in Union’s iconic orange hue.

Gibbs was overjoyed to be collaborating with Birkenstock, a brand he’s been fond of and worn for almost his entire life prior to puberty,” Gibbs expressed in a statement.

I used to get made fun of for wearing sandals (chancletas) for quite some time, but now it’s delightful to witness our community growing and changing in a positive direction.
