As a seasoned researcher with a keen eye for market trends and a hearty appetite for cryptocurrencies, I find the recent surge in inflows into Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds truly fascinating. The consistent daily inflows into these investment products, particularly the significant increase of nearly 168%, is a testament to the growing interest in digital assets among institutional investors.
On December 12th, investments into Bitcoin exchange-traded funds dramatically increased by approximately 168%, marking the first time that their collective net inflows exceeded $35 billion.
Based on SoSoValue’s data, Bitcoin ETF investments surged by approximately 168% on Thursday, amounting to $597.57 million. This is significantly higher than the $223.03 million recorded the day before. For the eleventh trading day in a row, these investments have been flowing in, totaling over $4.4 billion. This has pushed the total net inflows into Bitcoin ETFs to an unprecedented $35.17 billion for the first time.
Most funds were channeled into BlackRock’s IBIT, with a total of $431.6 million being invested on this particular day after no inflows the previous day. It is worth mentioning that BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager by total assets, has accumulated a net inflow of approximately $35.49 billion since the launch of the fund.
On Thursday, the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust experienced one of its highest recorded influxes, taking in approximately $110.76 million. Additionally, Bitwise’s BITB and Fidelity’s FBTC also saw substantial investments totaling $61.45 million and $30.54 million respectively. ARK and 21Shares’ ARKB and WisdomTree funds reported more moderate inflows of around $8.97 million and $2.65 million each.
On this particular day, among all the Bitcoin ETFs, Grayscale’s GBTC fund was unique as it experienced withdrawals totaling $48.4 million, while the other five Bitcoin ETFs stayed balanced with neither any net inflows nor outflows.
On December 12th, I observed that the cumulative trading volume of Bitcoin ETFs amounted to $3.15 billion, marking a decrease from the $3.97 billion traded the day prior.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at $99,985 per coin, down 0.7%.
Ethereum ETFs record $273.67m in Inflows
As a researcher, I observed an impressive spike in inflows towards Ethereum Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) on December 12th. The inflow surged to a remarkable $273.67 million – a noteworthy 168% jump from the $102.03 million recorded the day before.
In a recent trend, the BlackRock ETHA fund garnered a significant amount of investments totaling approximately $202.31 million. Coming in second was Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust with inflows of around $73.22 million. Fidelity’s FETH and 21Shares also saw investment influxes of about $19.42 million and $1.55 million, respectively.
On December 12th, it was noted that Grayscale’s ETHE fund experienced outflows amounting to $22.83 million, bringing the total outflows since its launch to a staggering $3.52 billion.
According to recent reports, the total amount of money flowing into Ethereum Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) has reached approximately $2.24 billion. At the moment, a single Ethereum (ETH) coin is valued at around $3,917 and seems to be holding steady in its current position.
