Bitpanda taps Deutsche Bank to process fiat transfers in Germany

As a researcher with experience in the crypto industry, I see this partnership between Austrian crypto exchange Bitpanda and Germany’s largest lender Deutsche Bank as a significant step towards mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies. The real-time payment solutions offered by Deutsche Bank through this collaboration will provide Bitpanda users in Germany with a more seamless and convenient experience, making crypto transactions more accessible to a wider audience.

Bitpanda, the Austrian cryptocurrency exchange, has teamed up with Germany’s leading bank, Deutsche Bank, to offer instant payment services.

Bitpanda, the prominent crypto exchange based in Austria, is broadening its collaboration with Deutsche Bank, Germany’s leading financial institution, to offer banking services for users in Germany. Through an API-integrated account solution, Bitpanda will gain access to German IBANs (International Bank Account Numbers), enabling seamless transactions for deposits and withdrawals as per the June 4th press announcement.

In an interview with crypto.news, Deutsche Bank’s media representative, Heinrich Frömsdorf, shared that through the new partnership, the bank aims to make inroads into previously unexplored markets. However, it’s important to note that the Frankfurt-based institution remains cautious and isn’t actively seeking out numerous collaborations within the crypto sector at this time.

As a crypto investor, I’d put it this way: “Not every crypto company can access Deutsche Bank’s services. They only work with firms that have clear licensing and regulation, and maintain stringent internal compliance standards.”

According to the press announcement, Deutsche Bank currently caters to Bitpanda’s business requirements as its European partner bank for cross-currency solutions in Austria and Spain. Bitpanda CEO Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad expressed his appreciation for Deutsche Bank’s dedication to collaborating with emerging financial sector entities, which facilitates our partnership.

I started my crypto investing journey with Bitpanda in 2022, when they obtained a license from the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). This authorization enabled them to legally provide their services within the German market.

As a researcher, I’ve come across an intriguing piece of news from crypto.news. In the middle of April, they announced that Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW), Germany’s largest state-backed financial institution managing over $350 billion in assets, intends to introduce crypto custody services for its institutional and corporate clients by the second half of 2024. This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with Bitpanda.
