Blade Will Make His MCU Debut in 2025's Marvel Zombies on Disney+

As a film enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the latest development in the Marvel Universe is a bittersweet pill to swallow. On one hand, it’s exciting to see Mahershala Ali’s Blade grace our screens again, albeit in an animated form, in the upcoming “Marvel Zombies.” The character, with his glowing eyes and expert swordsmanship, cuts a striking figure in this series.

In spite of the ongoing confusion and turmoil surrounding Marvel Studios’ efforts to revive the Blade series, the fan-favorite vampire slayer is set to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year. However, this entry won’t follow the typical route you might expect. A sneak peek at the upcoming Marvel content on Disney+ has given us our initial glance of the franchise’s Daywalker, who will first appear in animated form in the forthcoming series titled Marvel Zombies.

Of course, having battled supernatural beasts for so long, Blade will not become one of the undead. Instead, the character is seen in the footage slashing his way through zombies while possessing what appears to be the powers (and costume) of fellow Midnight Suns member, Moon Knight. With glowing white eyes, a white cape, and expert swordsmanship, Blade cuts an epic figure in Marvel Zombies. Though fans will be understandably disappointed that his will appear in animated form before his live-action solo outing.

To be completely accurate, Blade has appeared in the MCU already. Though we didn’t see him. His voice, played by Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, was heard off-screen in 2021’s largely maligned Eternals. At present, it is unknown whether the actor, who has been signed on to play Blade since 2019, will voice the character in Marvel Zombies. Blade is expected to play a big role in Marvel Zombies, which will continue on from the events of the What If…? episode “What If… Zombies?!” and follows a group of survivors who must fight former heroes and villains who are now the walking dead.

Where the Hell Is the MCU Blade Reboot?

The reboot of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Blade” has faced numerous setbacks, experiencing a change of directors, writers, and even its lead star Mahershala Ali, who expressed frustration during the process. With Wesley Snipes reappearing in this year’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” some fans are questioning whether he should be granted another solo outing as the character instead.

Although there was an optimistic production update earlier this year about the Blade reboot, with Mahershala Ali showing enthusiasm for it, unfortunately, the release date of the reboot has been taken off the schedule. However, action movie enthusiasts can still anticipate a thrilling experience, as the November 7, 2025 slot has been assigned to the upcoming Predator movie, titled Badlands.

It’s official! The Marvel Zombies series is set to premiere on Disney+ in October 2025. Other exciting additions to the Marvel lineup include Season 3 of What If…? (December 22, 2024), Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (January 29, 2025), Daredevil: Born Again (March 4, 2025), Ironheart (June 24, 2025), Eyes of Wakanda (August 6, 2025), and Wonder Man (December 2025). Marvel enthusiasts can rejoice as the hit multiverse adventure Deadpool & Wolverine will be available on Disney+ starting November 12 this year.
