Blake Lively And Anna Kendrick’s A Simple Favor 2 Has Tested With Audiences, And The Director’s Reaction Is Going To Drive Fans Wild

As a dedicated gamer and film enthusiast, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the developments of the much-anticipated sequel to “A Simple Favor,” starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. Having been captivated by their electric chemistry in the original thriller-comedy released back in 2018, I’ve been eagerly awaiting any news on the follow-up installment.

The intriguing and alluring dynamic between Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in “A Simple Favor” (released in 2018) left fans eager for more. In this thriller-comedy directed by Paul Feig, Stephanie (Kendrick), a single mother, delves into the disappearance of her wealthy best friend Emily (Blive Lively), uncovering secrets far beyond what she had anticipated. When we first saw it, we were captivated, and its rising popularity on streaming platforms has only added to our excitement. The good news is that a sequel is in production, and Feig has recently shared some promising updates.

Paul Feig dropped by for an interview at TopMob during Comic-Con in San Diego, where he spoke about his upcoming film “Jackpot.” This hilarious action comedy, set to hit theaters soon, boasts an impressive cast including Awkwafina, Simu Liu, and John Cena. Feig shared that the movie’s fast-paced humor and thrilling stunts are reminiscent of Jackie Chan’s best work. We also seized the opportunity to discuss “A Simple Favor 2.” According to Feig, early audience testing has shown promising results for this highly anticipated sequel.

Based on my own experiences as a filmmaker, I can tell you that there’s nothing more exhilarating than hearing that your latest project has been a success. Just two nights ago, we held a secret test screening for our newest production, and let me tell you, the results were off the charts! The audience engagement was through the roof, and their positive feedback left us all feeling elated and validated. It’s moments like these that make all the long hours, late-night brainstorming sessions, and logistical challenges worth it. When you pour your heart and soul into a creative endeavor, and it resonates with people, there’s no better feeling in the world.

It’s great news indeed. Particularly when Paul Feig shared updates about the upcoming sequel, it seemed that he wasn’t satisfied with how things were unfolding, and even discarded previous plans. During an interview with TopMob, Feig expressed his views on sequels in general and mentioned A Simple Favor 2, stating:

Making the first one was an enjoyable experience for us, and it turned out to be successful over time on streaming platforms. I grew fond of the characters and wanted to explore their stories further. So, I came up with a new idea set in Italy, aiming for a stylish, exaggerated, and ridiculous yet real and scary narrative. However, during the writer’s strike, fans had high expectations for the movie based on early announcements. Realizing our initial script might not meet their expectations, we discarded about 70% of it.

Despite the initial alarming reactions during the test screenings for “A Simple Favor 2,” director Paul Feig’s new approach proved successful based on the feedback he received. However, we couldn’t pin down a definite release date from him except that it’s expected to come out in 2025. In the meantime, look forward to watching Paul Feig’s latest production, “Jackpot,” which will be accessible to Amazon Prime Video subscribers starting August 15.
