Blake Lively, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Hamm, Joe Jonas and More Got Packed Away in Foam by JR at Chanel’s Tribeca Dinner (Exclusive)

Photographer JR gave new meaning to the phrase “pack it up” on Monday in New York.

The visionary French artist collaborated with Chanel once more, setting up a unique portrait studio at the 18th annual Tribeca Festival’s artists dinner held at the Odeon. This collaboration, which marked JR’s return to working with Chanel following their partnership for the Tribeca Festival’s artists awards in 2019, attracted several high-profile individuals who eagerly agreed to have their photos taken by him. Instead of traditional studio settings, these celebrities stepped into an oversized wooden box filled with packing materials, enhancing the authenticity of the experience. Contrary to what one might think, there was no need for the images to be returned – they were all captured on camera instead!

Notably, JR’s work goes beyond just capturing creative imagery; he also managed to photograph notable figures such as Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, Blake Lively, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Hamm, Mariska Hargitay, Lucy Liu, and many others within the frames. 2025’s film festival honoring visual artists who’ve graced the award-winning directors with their unique works has put my gaming radar on high alert! This year’s roster, skillfully curated by Zoe Lukov, is a stellar lineup featuring talents like Alteronce Gumby, Faith Wilding, Jane Dickson, Jeffrey Meris, Lauren Halsey, Marilyn Minter, Naudline Pierre, Raúl de Nieves, Simphiwe Ndzube and Tuan Andrew Nguyen. Their masterpieces will be showcased at the Tribeca Festival hub at Spring Studios throughout the festival, which runs until June 15th. I can’t wait to immerse myself in their creative brilliance!
