- Blasphemous is a popular Metroidvania that’s making the leap to mobile
- It will arrive complete with all the DLCs
- You can play using touch screen inputs or, if you prefer, a controller
As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for soul-crushing challenges and a soft spot for Metroidvania games that take me to dark, mysterious worlds, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Blasphemous on my mobile device. With its grim aesthetic and promise of grueling gameplay, it’s like FromSoftware’s Souls series took a trip to hell and decided to make a game out of it.
Game Studio, Game Kitchen, has disclosed that their hit action-platformer game, Blasphemous, is expected to arrive on both iOS and Android devices, apparently in response to fan requests. The voice of the people is clear – they yearn for more challenging Metroidvania games on mobile platforms. As of now, there’s no definitive release date available; however, the App Store listing suggests February 24th, 2025. It’s important to note that this date might just be a provisional one.
No matter when it gets here, it’ll come with everything included. That’s correct. You won’t pay for just the basic version; instead, you’ll get the full Blasphemous mobile experience right away, complete with all DLCs. Plus, it will be controller-friendly from the start, so if you prefer a controller over touchscreen inputs, there’s no need to worry!
If you haven’t encountered Blasphemous before, let me clarify that it’s not your typical light-hearted game. The story unfolds in a realm called Cvstodia, where a malady known as The Miracle has tainted its people. You assume the role of The Penitent One, an unfortunate soul stuck in a loop of life and death. Although this existence might seem grim, it places you as the beacon of hope for liberating the world from the wretched condition it’s found itself in.
In a Metroidvania-style game like Cvstodia, you’ll find yourself venturing extensively, searching for Relics, Rosary Beads, and Prayers to optimize your chosen playstyle. These enhancements will be crucial as Cvstodia is teeming with vicious concoctions whose sole purpose seems to be causing destruction. Consequently, you’ll need to respond in kind, using potent combos to defeat them.
For nearly five years, Blasphemous has been a game I’ve eagerly wanted to play. Its somber atmosphere often turns gruesomely violent during battles, which I find captivating. It shares a similar melancholic vibe with FromSoftware’s Souls series that I can’t get enough of. Now that it’s coming to mobile devices, perhaps I’ll finally get the chance to use the Mea Culpa sword.
Eventually, the game titled “Blasphemous” is set to debut on both the App Store and Google Play. This premium game will be priced at about $7.99, depending on your local currency. If you’re intrigued, you can pre-order it for your chosen platform by clicking the buttons provided below.
