As a long-time fan of “Blue Bloods,” I must say it was heartwarming to see Anthony Abatemarco finally finding love in Season 14. After years of being a bachelor and dealing with his tumultuous romantic history, it’s about time he found some happiness. It’s like they say, better late than never!
Contains spoilers for “Blue Bloods” Season 14, Episode 7 — “Entitlement”
It’s great news that Anthony Abatemarco (Steven R. Schirripa) has found love just as the popular series “Blue Bloods,” which includes Season 14, is coming to an end on December 13. Interestingly, the woman he’s fallen for could potentially be a witness in one of Erin’s cases. Deanne Janson (Amanda Kloots) is a strong and busy individual, having previously worked and resided with Sloane Adams, who Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) is investigating for embezzlement charges.
During a subsequent interview, Anthony and Deanne’s playful banter catches Erin’s attention, prompting her to meddle in their potential relationship despite Anthony’s concerns that dating Deanne violates professional ethics. He stands firm against her attempts, but Erin is persistent, leading Anthony to accuse her of forcing them together. Anthony’s self-image significantly contributes to his anger towards Erin and his dismay over the relationship not succeeding. “Compare me with Deanne… I understand what my image represents. It thrives in specific markets,” he explains to Erin.
Under the supportive guidance of Garrett (Gregory Jbara), Erin endeavors to rectify her error. He arranges a romantic dinner for them at an upscale restaurant, hoping they might discover something genuine between them – possibly even love. As we prepare for the final episode, it seems Anthony’s love life may take an uplifting turn, offering a heartwarming conclusion for this character who deserves a taste of happiness in his life.
Anthony was long a bachelor before love came along
Anthony carries a deep and melancholic romantic past behind him. Prior to the series, he divorced Vivian (Kate Miller) and has seldom pursued dating during the show’s run. The poignant narrative of his love life mirrors that of Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), who, like Anthony, has been without a significant romantic partner since the demise of his wife before the series began. This character trait, often depicted as unfortunate, is one that Tom Selleck himself has expressed regret over. When not with the Reagans, Anthony can usually be found spending time with his daughter Sophia (Isabel Harper Leight), who he shares custody with Vivian.
Prior to Season 9’s episode “Disrupted,” the relationship between Anthony and Vivian was predominantly strained. In this pivotal storyline, Anthony encounters a vengeful mental patient who puts both Sophia and Vivian in danger. Since he struggled to communicate with Vivian, their daughter’s life hung in the balance. However, after this difficult episode, they managed to improve their co-parenting skills. Given his recent hardships, it is only fair that Anthony receives some positive developments. After all, Steven R. Schirripa has played “Blue Bloods” for over half of its run without a romantic interest. It’s a bit late, but at least Anthony is finally receiving the romantic attention he deserves.
