At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, BMW will unveil its revolutionary new in-car technology, dubbed “Panoramic iDrive“. This advanced display and control system is designed to enhance driver concentration, offer personalized experiences, and prioritize ergonomic design. Starting from late 2025, this technology will be integrated into all new BMW models, marking a major technological advancement for the automaker.
The heart of the Panoramic iDrive system features the “BMW Panoramic View,” a broad head-up display that extends from one A-pillar to another. This display projects crucial driving details directly in the driver’s line of sight, minimizing distractions while maintaining easy access to important data. To enhance this feature, an optional 3D Head-Up Display is available, which merges navigation and autonomous driving indicators into the driver’s field of vision.
The BMW Operating System X serves as the smart foundation for the Panoramic iDrive. Constructed upon an Android Open Source Platform, it facilitates immediate updates, advanced customization, and effortless compatibility with external applications. Its user-friendly design allows drivers to move widgets from the central touchscreen to the panoramic display by simply swiping.
As a tech enthusiast behind the wheel, I appreciate the advanced steering wheel design that features glowing “shy-tech” buttons with tactile feedback. This intuitive control setup keeps me focused on the road while allowing for seamless operation. Along with touch, voice, and traditional controls, this system offers effortless interaction, making every drive a smooth experience.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming Panoramic iDrive system! This innovative technology is designed to learn and adapt to my driving habits over time. It will actively propose modes and settings that cater to my unique preferences, making my driving experience more personalized and enjoyable. Excitingly, this state-of-the-art system is set to debut in vehicles from the Neue Klasse lineup, hitting the roads by late 2025!
