Among Bollywood’s beloved biopics, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, initially released in 2016, continues to hold its place as a favorite. This film narrates the captivating tale of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a former Indian cricket captain, showcasing his remarkable journey filled with hardships, victories, and eventual success. Sushant Singh Rajput’s portrayal of the lead character left an indelible impression, embodying Dhoni’s struggles, triumphs, and ascent to greatness.
Neeraj Pandey directed the film, with Kiara Advani portraying Sakshi Dhoni and Disha Patani playing Priyanka Jha. The movie, tracing Mahi Dhoni’s journey from humble beginnings to his iconic World Cup-winning six, resonated deeply with viewers, receiving universal praise and commercial success. To this day, it remains cherished by both cricket enthusiasts and cinema fans alike.
Finishing as runner-up in the poll, the 2021 film titled “83” serves as a cinematic homage to one of Indian cricket’s most memorable victories – the iconic 1983 World Cup triumph. Directed by Kabir Khan, this movie vividly portrays the thrilling odyssey of Kapil Dev and his underestimated team, who against all odds emerged victorious, lifting the esteemed trophy at Lord’s after defeating the formidable West Indies.
Runveer Singh gave an outstanding portrayal as Kapil Dev, capturing the spirit of the legendary cricketer’s leadership and perseverance. Deepika Padukone played Romi Dev, Kapil’s devoted wife, while the talented cast also featured Tahir Raj Bhasin, Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, and more.
