Border 2: Find out which courageous war hero Varun Dhawan will portray in Sunny Deol-led movie; REPORT

Recently, Varun Dhawan has been quite busy managing multiple projects at the same time. Although it’s no secret that Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, will bring back Sunny Deol as Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri from the original 1997 film, and Diljit Dosanjh as Air Force officer Nirmal Singh Sekhon with Ahan Shetty as a Naval Commander, the specifics of Varun’s role have remained undisclosed. However, that secret is now revealed.

As per Mid Day’s report, Varun Dhawan is slated to portray Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a brave war hero who received the Param Vir Chakra for his exceptional courage during battle. After the 1971 Indo-Pak conflict, he was subsequently promoted to Colonel.

Before the filming started in Jhansi, Madhya Pradesh, in mid-January, the actor had spent a period of about two months undergoing rigorous physical preparation.

According to the findings of the report, it was discovered that apart from testing costumes with fashion designer Sheetal Sharma, Dhawan also connected with actual Indian Army personnel, joined them in celebrating Army Day, and had discussions to gain insights into their daily lives and encounters.

In my role as a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an interesting tidbit: Before the cameras even started rolling, our dedicated team invested an entire year preparing for this intriguing project. As for Dhawan’s captivating storyline, it takes us on a journey from his departure from the village of Sisana in Haryana, all the way to his enlistment into the army and his active participation in the historic 1971 war.

Dhawan’s preparation for the role was rigorous, featuring three-hour daily workouts that combined cardio exercises and strength training. He also received specific training on firearm usage and ammunition handling.

Based on accounts, the opening scene for Dhawan is packed with an adrenaline-pumping action sequence that’s masterfully orchestrated by esteemed Hollywood action director Nick Powell, who is known for his work in this field.

Major Hoshiar Singh’s character was crucial during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, especially at the Jarpal post in the Shakargarh sector. Despite suffering severe wounds, he refused evacuation and persisted in leading his troops until the truce. The task given to him was to capture the Pakistani-held area of Jarpal by establishing a defensible foothold.

During fierce battles, Major Singh would venture into the trench lines, boosting the morale of his soldiers and, at times, manning a heavy weapon like a machine gun himself. As a result, his unit effectively withstood numerous assaults, causing substantial losses to the opposing forces.

To ensure accuracy, the production crew consulted an ex-Army Major for his knowledge. He reviewed and approved every detail concerning military depiction, from references and research to uniforms and badges.
