As a dedicated Bosch fan since his first appearance on Prime Video, I must admit that the news of the final season of Bosch: Legacy leaves me with a bittersweet feeling. It’s like saying goodbye to an old friend who has been by my side for over a decade, solving crimes and keeping Los Angeles safe.
Harry Bosch is about to work his last case at Amazon.
Michael Connelly, the writer behind the character and a co-producer of Bosch: Legacy, revealed on Instagram that the show will conclude with its upcoming third season. This final season is planned for release in March 2025.
I’m thrilled to share that the third season of ‘Bosch: Legacy’ will debut on Amazon Prime Video in March! I believe it’s our finest work so far. This will mark the end of the 10-season run for this character, portrayed brilliantly by Titus Welliver, but don’t worry, we are actively working on the Renee Ballard series. If you’re familiar with my novels, then you know that Harry Bosch is far from done!
The series titled “Bosch: Legacy” debuted on Amazon’s free streaming platform Freevee (formerly known as IMDb TV) in May 2022, and it can also be found on Prime Video. This new show serves as a continuation of the original “Bosch“, which previously aired for seven seasons on Prime Video. Similar to its predecessor, the story revolves around Harry Bosch (played by Welliver), who is now retired from the LAPD and works as a private investigator. Mimi Rogers and Madison Lintz reappear in their roles as attorney Honey Chandler and Harry’s daughter Maddie from the earlier series.
Connelly serves as executive producer for “Bosch: Legacy”, working alongside Eric Overmyer, Tom Bernardo, Pieter Jan Brugge, and Welliver. Fabel Entertainment, led by Henrik Bastin, produces the series in collaboration with Connelly’s Hieronymus Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios.
Over the past decade, Bosch and Bosch: Legacy have been two of my personal favorites on Prime Video, Freevee, and Amazon MGM Studios. These series showcase the timeless storytelling magic that Michael Connelly has crafted for fans like me,” expressed Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios. “We take great pride in the influence these shows have had, and we’re thrilled that Michael, Titus, Henrik, and their creative team have captivating tales left to share within the Bosch universe, with the final season of Bosch: Legacy, our new Ballard series, and much more on the horizon.
The Renée Ballard series is set to premiere in fall 2025. Maggie Q will play the lead role, portraying Renée Ballard, head of an underfunded and volunteer-led cold case unit within the LAPD. John Carroll Lynch will appear alongside her, playing Ballard’s retired former partner who occasionally assists with the unit.
