Boy Meets World’s Danielle Fishel Broke Out An Original Crew Jacket From The ‘93-’94 Season, And I Wish I Could Still Fit Into Clothes I Wore 30 Years Ago

There’s no question that “Boy Meets World” was a highly-acclaimed television series from the ’90s, starting with its premiere in 1993. Characters like Corey, Shawn, and Topanga quickly became idols for young viewers who followed the show on ABC (now available to stream with a Disney+ subscription). As we approach three decades since the show first aired, Danielle Fishel, who played Topanga Lawrence (later Matthews), recently donned an adorable kids-sized cast and crew jacket from Season 1 of “Boy Meets World.” This nostalgic gesture makes me long for the chance to revisit my ’90s wardrobe.

While you may not see Fishel in front of the camera on our 2025 TV guide, she has a handful of directed episodes appearing on it (shows she’s directed for this year are Shifting Gears, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and Lopez vs. Lopez). Along with it, she co-hosts the Boy Meets World rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World, alongside Rider Strong and Will Friedle (who played Shawn Hunter and Eric Matthews, respectively). During one of her most recent directing days on set, she shared herself wearing the stellar vintage piece to her Instagram. The post showcases her wearing the kids XL classic coat (noted as a S1 cast and crew gift), the tag with her name on it (per her mom’s doing) and how thrilled she is to wear it to new series sets where she’s directing. The actress from “Girl Meets World,” who was known for her intelligence even in the past, made a bold choice by selecting an XL size at one point. Although this iconic merchandise may not fit her as perfectly as it used to, Fishel manages to pull off the vintage look brilliantly. Many fans of “Boy Meets World” share this appreciation, expressing only admiration and amazement for the way the actress once known as Miss Lawrence now as Mrs. Matthews can rock the original clothing item.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but cheer on Danielle Fishel as she climbs the ladder in her career, particularly expanding her directorial repertoire. Her initial foray into directing was for the spinoff and unfortunately short-lived “Girl Meets World” series. Post the show’s termination, her list of directing credits has expanded significantly, with notable mentions like George Lopez, whom she cherishes collaborating with on “Lopez vs. Lopez”. However, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing for the actress from “Dorm Daze”–Danielle Fishel faced a breast cancer diagnosis toward the end of 2024 and has had her fair share of ongoing complications with ex-colleague Maitland Ward.

Despite three decades passing since the debut of “Boy Meets World”, and all the changes and hurdles Fishel has faced, it’s fantastic to see she’s still sporting that iconic kids cast and crew jacket. It even makes me miss my 90s fashion and wish I could still wear some of those trendy outfits today.
