As a die-hard fan of Boyzone since their early days, I can hardly contain my excitement for this upcoming docuseries! For 30 years, I’ve followed their journey, sang along to their hits, and felt the heartache of their losses. Now, finally, we get an exclusive peek into their lives, as they candidly discuss their triumphs, trials, and tribulations.
A docuseries on the global success of 1990s Irish boy band Boyzone is coming to Sky and NOW.
For the initial time in three decades, the band members – Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch, and Michael Graham – have granted special, behind-the-scenes interview opportunities for a three-part series. They are sharing their unique, intimate accounts of being part of the globally successful band that has sold more than 25 million records worldwide.
“In the storyline, the young men openly discuss the tough realities of achieving worldwide acclaim and attempt to move past difficult times in their lives. To do this, they confront the tense relationships and unfortunate incidents that have deeply affected them, their loved ones, and their connections with others.”
The Sky original production by Curious Films features participation from Michelle Gately (Stephen Gately’s sister), Eloy De Jong (his former partner and a pop star), and Louis Walsh (their estranged manager). Additionally, it includes previously unseen archive material from the group’s early career.
The document will delve into the defining moments that molded Boyzone’s journey, encompassing their triumphs and tribulations during their global reign, the relentless media scrutiny experienced in ’90s Britain leading to Gately’s public coming out, and the heartbreaking loss that occurred when the band member passed away in 2009 due to an unrecognized heart condition.
“Dov Freedman, executive producer and CEO of Curious Films, expressed great pride that Ronan, Keith, Shane, and Mikey have permitted them to finally share their story, which has been more than 30 years in the making. This is Curious Films’ first commission for Sky. The genuine interviews from all significant figures in the Boyzone saga truly makes this series unique and exceptional.”
