As a child of the ’80s and ’90s, I can wholeheartedly say that “Transformers One” has brought back fond memories of my youth. The film is not just a nostalgic trip down memory lane for older fans like myself, but it’s also an action-packed adventure that will leave kids with their eyes wide open in wonderment.
The first “Transformers” movie has received high praise from critics and audiences alike, with many feeling that the trailers don’t fully capture its charm. After watching it myself, I can confirm it offers a unique and nostalgic shift for a big franchise. However, it’s important to note that the film is primarily aimed at kids. While the humor and narrative cater to various age groups, it’s undeniably going to be an exciting ride for young viewers. In homage to his own childhood favorites, Brian Tyree Henry aims to infuse a fair dose of emotional turmoil into the experience.
In the movie, the actor portrays the notorious villain Megatron, who initially goes by the name D-16. Recently, I had a conversation with him and Chris Hemsworth about “Transformers One”. When I brought up the transition to Megatron being somewhat intimidating, he willingly shared his chilling influences from his childhood.
Reflecting on movies that stirred profound emotions within me during the brief span of my eight-year existence, I often ponder over titles such as The Transformers: The Movie, The Fox and the Hound, and The Care Bears Movie. Particularly, there’s a scene from The Care Bears Movie at Camp Care-a-Lot that becomes quite somber. Such darker moments are less common in animation nowadays, but I cherish that particular scene because it mirrored my own experiences of trauma. Sharing the burden of trauma can provide comfort and understanding to others who have gone through similar struggles.
Absolutely, discussing trauma can be beneficial! It’s become increasingly clear over time that some movies marketed as children’s entertainment may contain themes that were not initially considered age-appropriate upon their release. The films mentioned by Brian Tyree Henry serve as perfect examples of this trend, and it appears he wants Transformers: One to be included in this group!
Frankly, there’s nothing extraordinarily frightening about this movie, but let’s face it, not all animated films can be as spine-chilling as The Care Bears Movie. Moving on to the reason you’re here, I’d like to share a Care Bears scene that left Brian Tyree Henry speechless:
In simpler terms, it seems like the movie “The Care Bears” had a significant impact, as Brian Tyree Henry appeared to be quite determined in causing distress among younger audiences when he made that statement.
My primary aim is this now. Nowadays, I find that children aren’t shedding tears as often as they used to, which leaves me questioning. Their emotional toughness reminds me of a time when I said, ‘Perhaps we can stir up some feelings in them.’
It’s evident that Brian Tyree Henry’s answer was full of amusing overstatements, which is typical of his interview style. Chris Hemsworth and Keegan-Michael Key added even more humor to the interviews, as shown in our enjoyable chats with the cast and crew. Although the film appears to be quite scary for children due to its traumatic elements, it’s actually a joyful ride that’s worth watching at the cinema, especially if you have kids or are a long-time fan of the franchise.
Fortunately, the movie is currently playing in cinemas nationwide! What’s more, it’s available in both 3D and 4DX formats. I had a chance to watch it in 3D myself, and let me tell you, it ranks among the best ever made. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming movies slated for release in 2024.
