Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy Trailer Released by Peacock

As a longtime fan of Bridget Jones, it feels like coming home to catch up with an old friend after all these years. I vividly remember the chaos and humor that Renée Zellweger brought to life as Bridget in the early 2000s, and it’s exciting to see her return once more. The trailer for “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” has only whetted my appetite for more of this witty, relatable, and endearing character.

In 2025, you won’t find Bridget Jones on a movie screen, but rather on Peacock, as her upcoming film is set to premiere exclusively there. This beloved character was initially brought to life by author Helen Fielding in the 1996 novel “Bridget Jones’s Diary.” Renée Zellweger took on the role of Bridget in the 2001 film adaptation of “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” earning an Academy Award nomination. She reprised her role as Bridget in both “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” (2004) and “Bridget Jones Baby” (2016). Now, 24 years after her first portrayal, Zellweger will return to play Bridget Jones once more in the film titled “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.

Peacock has released a sneak peek at the upcoming movie titled “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy“. This new film is based on Fielding’s 2013 novel and picks up Bridget’s story four years after her husband Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) has passed away. Now a single mother, Bridget is navigating life’s challenges while re-entering the dating scene. She encounters two intriguing men: Mr. Wallaker, a teacher at her children’s school played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Roxster, a 29-year-old man portrayed by Leo Woodhall. Notably, Hugh Grant will once again play Daniel Cleaver, a character he originally brought to life in the first two “Bridget Jones” movies but was absent from “Bridget Jones Baby“.

In the movie “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” directed by Michael Morris – well-recognized for the Oscar-nominated film “To Leslie” – the script was co-written by Helen Fielding, author of “Bridget Jones,” who has collaborated on previous films in the series. She’s joined by Dan Mazer (co-writer of “Bridget Jones Baby”) and Abi Morgan, a new addition to the franchise. Interestingly, despite his character being written off at the beginning of the film, Colin Firth returns as Mark Darcy, appearing as a figment of Bridget Jones’ imagination.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy Gets Streaming Trailer

By the time Bridget Jones’s Baby hit theaters in 2016, the theatrical market had significantly shifted, resulting in a domestic gross of just $24 million, far less than its predecessors. The worldwide earnings of Bridget Jones’s Baby were also lower at $211 million compared to the previous two films. In total, the three movies have amassed a global box office of $756 million against a combined production budget of only $100 million.

Civil War” and “Bridget Jones’s Baby” hit theaters. As romantic comedies have shifted from being primarily theater releases to streaming content, it is assumed that audiences may prefer watching them at home rather than in theaters. Despite not having a theatrical release, “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” boasts an impressive cast, a talented director, and a unique take on romance that promises to make for an enjoyable viewing experience at home.
