Broadway Box Office: ‘Our Town’ Brings in $1M in Closing Week

On Sunday, the revival of “Our Town” featuring Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, and Katie Holmes concluded its brief stint at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, marking its biggest earnings for the duration of its run.

The recent revival of Thornton Wilder’s play, orchestrated by director Kenny Leon, grossed approximately $1.08 million in its last performance and was almost entirely sold out, with an average ticket cost of around $134.51. This production made its Broadway debut on October 10th.

Last week, Wicked remained unbeatable as the highest-earning show in the industry, raking in a total of $2.6 million. In second place was Hamilton, which grossed $1.9 million, and Gypsy followed closely behind with earnings of $1.89 million. The Great Gatsby made $1.85 million during this period, as lead actor Jeremy Jordan prepared for his final week before moving on to star in the musical Floyd Collins this spring. Lastly, The Lion King completed the top five with earnings of $1.7 million.

In the final week of Cole Escola’s run in the show “Oh,Mary!”, it generated a revenue of $1.25 million and was fully booked at the Lyceum Theatre. Beginning Tuesday, Betty Gilpin steps into the lead role, while Phillip James Brannon and Chris Renfro assume the roles of Mary’s Husband and Mary’s Teacher respectively.

Last week, Nicole Scherzinger came back from her pre-planned holiday to Sunset Blvd, which resulted in a significant boost for production – it soared to an impressive $1.6 million, that’s over $745,000 higher than the week before! Furthermore, the St. James Theatre was almost fully booked, operating at a capacity of 97%.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that our beloved industry has seen a remarkable surge this year! From my calculations, we raked in an impressive $33.4 million this week alone – that’s a whopping 41.47% increase compared to the same period in 2024. And if you take a step back and look at the season as a whole, we’re nearly 18% ahead of where we were last season! It’s truly an exciting time for us all!
