Well, folks, we’ve got ourselves a spectacle over in the Wild West of cryptocurrency! What started off as a celebratory hoedown for the long-awaited Pi Network mainnet turned into a kerfuffle quicker than you can say “snake oil.” Bybit CEO Ben Zhou moseyed into the fray on Friday with a lasso in hand, branding Pi coin as no more than a scammy sideshow act. 🎩🐍
In case you missed it, on Thursday, Pi coin got itself listed on some fancy-pants exchanges like OKX, Gate.io, and Bitget—finally giving the project a chance to strut in front of the crypto crowd after years of dawdling. Naturally, the Pi faithful (known as Pioneers for reasons as mysterious as this project itself) kicked up their heels in celebration. But then along came Ben Zhou, raining on the parade like a cowboy who forgot his spurs.
In a tweet (on X—because apparently “Twitter” wasn’t edgy enough anymore), Ben shared a banger of a police memo from China, circa last year, warning folks that Pi coin was allegedly up to no good. According to the advisory, the operation was targeting elderly folks, trying to nab their personal data and, heaven forbid, their pensions. Just the kind of wholesome business model you’d expect from the cryptoverse, right? 😅
Ben wasn’t done. No, sir. He declared, “Bybit hadn’t even touched $PI—never asked to list it, nothing!” He went on to tar-and-feather Pi’s claims about Bybit’s involvement, calling it “nonsense” as he tipped his hat with a smirk. Then, with the flourish of a gunslinger tossing his final insult, Zhou urged the Pi folks to grow up already and quit the “childish attacks.” Ouch. 🥶
And just like that, Pi Network found itself in a pickle. Sure, its coin has wormed its way onto platforms like CoinMarketCap, where it’s wobbling around the $0.63 mark like a cowboy trying to stay upright at the saloon. But the volatility smells fishy enough to make even the crypto wolves pause for a second sniff.

Analysts? Split down the middle, bless their hearts. Some say Pi Network’s fishy history makes it as trustworthy as a raccoon at a picnic, while others cling to hope that it’ll somehow strike gold. The debate, fueled by Zhou’s harsh words, just keeps getting hotter than a summer day in Hannibal, Missouri. 🔥
Now, while Pi Network may have some believers shaking their pom-poms, they’ve got a lot of convincing and explaining to do if they want to win over the rest of us skeptics. Only time will tell whether this shiny new addition to the crypto corral goes bust or becomes the next big thing. Either way, grab your popcorn, folks—it’s gonna be a show. 🍿
