Caitlyn Jenner’s Manager Sophia Hutchins Dies at 29 (Reports)

On a tragic note, I’ve learned that my friend Sophia Hutchins, Caitlyn Jenner’s manager, passed away in an ATV accident in Malibu this past Wednesday. It’s a heartbreaking loss; she was just 29 years old. The news has been reported by TMZ, People, and several other media outlets. My thoughts are with everyone affected during this difficult time.

The accident occurred Wednesday morning where Hutchins lost his life, according to reports from law enforcement officials and family members to TMZ. It was stated that Hutchins was operating an ATV on the road near Jenner’s residence when he collided with a moving vehicle, causing the ATV to veer off the road and plunge 350 feet into a ravine due to hitting the car’s bumper.

The people in the car were not injured.

Around the point when the previous Olympian publicly identified as a transgender woman, Hutchins and Jenner first met and developed a close friendship that sparked romance rumors. However, these were firmly dismissed by Hutchins in a 2019 article published in the New York Times.

Or:

Hutchins and Jenner became friends around the time the former Olympian transitioned and came out as a transgender woman, which led to speculation about their romantic relationship. Hutchins denied these rumors in a 2019 article featured in the New York Times.

She stated plainly that there was never any romantic involvement between us, as reported by The Times. Meanwhile, rumors persisted in the tabloids about our supposed relationship, but she clarified that nothing of the sort was acknowledged or discussed.

She added, “I don’t feel a need to address my sex life, quite frankly, unless I want to.”

Hutchins and Jenner first crossed paths when they were introduced by Hutchins’ makeup artist during a photo session. This information was shared by Hutchins with The Times.

Sharing the same kind of humor, we spent our time in laughter and eventually met up for a brunch, and we’ve remained good friends ever since,” she stated later on, adding that she recognized an opening to support Jenner in her business ventures.

She shared with the Times that no one was overseeing her, and many were exploiting this situation. Concerned, she said, “If I don’t take control and start managing you, Caitlyn, you’ll run out of money.”

She told the newspaper that no one was looking after Caitlyn, so people were taking advantage. She worried that if someone didn’t step in to manage her finances, Caitlyn would go bankrupt.

During her final year at Pepperdine, Hutchins stepped into the role of Jenner’s manager and relocated to live with her in their Malibu residence, according to reports from the Times.

As a gaming buddy, Hutchins has been more than just a friend to me. They’ve become like family, offering unwavering support and trust. I consider them my confidant too, someone I can always lean on when the going gets tough in the gaming world.

She’s among the brightest in her profession, she’s indispensable in my life, and with her entrepreneurial drive, there seems to be no bounds to what she can achieve.

Hutchins, previously known for her roles as executive director and CEO of Jenner’s trans activism foundation named after herself, similar to Jenner, identified as a transgender woman. She shared that she took a break from studies during one semester at Pepperdine University to undergo her personal transition process.

Ever since I found myself immersed in the gaming world, I’ve often pondered, ‘Is it time for me to embark on a journey of transitioning from being male to female?’ It wasn’t until I stepped foot into college, gained independence from my family, and began crafting my unique identity that this question started to resonate more deeply within me.

Though she told the Times in 2019 that she regrets that interview.

She expressed, “If I hadn’t given that interview, I wouldn’t have revealed myself. I’d simply continue living life as usual. However, now it seems that people primarily focus on my being transgender rather than seeing the whole person I am.

Born in the Seattle region, Hutchins established Lumasol, a sunscreen company, and became a stand-in for President Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. She appeared on various TV shows promoting him and shared photos with him on Instagram, one of which was taken in February 2024.

Never before has enthusiasm, zeal, and dedication for our ‘Save America’ cause been stronger! We refuse to back down!” – This is how Hutchins expressed it in his caption.

They, along with Jenner, were present at the Starlight Ball, which was an event related to the celebrations surrounding Trump’s second inauguration.

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to reps for Hutchins and Jenner.
