Recreating Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s iconic wedding scene was no easy feat, but Vihaan managed to deliver with panache! It’s as if I was transported back to their actual wedding day.
As a lifestyle expert, I find myself constantly impressed by the growth and versatility of actor Vihaan Samat in the entertainment industry. Not too long ago, he captivated audiences with his portrayal of Agastya Chaudhary, Ananya Panday’s on-screen husband, in the hit series Call Me Bae. In a recent interview, he shared insights into an exciting project – recreating the wedding scene between Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani from the original for this series. Vihaan revealed that director Collin D’Cunha showed him a clip of the original scene on his phone and asked for a reenactment. He expresses hope that the entire segment will measure up to the magic of the original.
In a conversation with The Free Press Journal, Vihaan Samat shared how he re-enacted a wedding scene reminiscent of Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra’s actual wedding. He narrated the experience by saying, “On our set, we filmed a wedding scene modeled after Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s nuptials. That day, our director, Collin D’Cunha, approached me with a video clip on his phone and instructed me to replicate it, to which I agreed.
Vihaan admitted to the difficulty of the task, expressing optimism that the remade scenario would live up to the quality of the original. In addition, Vihaan, known for his role in Call Me Bae, discussed his rapport with co-star Ananya Panday, sharing that their connection started during the filming of CTRL prior to the series.
He pointed out that the ease with which they worked together on the set was due to their already strong relationship. Even though they had to adjust to a different working environment for “Call Me Bae”, their previous acquaintance made them feel more at ease and allowed them to deliver more natural and comfortable performances.
For those not in the know, the Netflix movie “CTRL” by director Vikramaditya Motwane is slated for release on October 4th. This production is backed by Saffron and Andolan Films, a collaboration between Nikhil Dwivedi and Arya Menon. In this film, Ananya Panday takes the role of Nella Awasthi, while Vihaan Samat portrays Joe Mascarenhas.
In Call Me Bae, Ananya Panday plays the character Bella Chowdhury, also known as ‘Bae’. Interestingly, her on-screen wedding with Vihaan Samat’s character, Agastya, is modeled after the grand wedding of Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra from last year. This scene reproduces their wedding attire, synchronized actions, and replicates the atmosphere of the actual ceremony. It successfully encapsulates the spirit of Kiara and Sidharth’s union, where they had a memorable exchange of glances and a namaste.
Additionally, the series showcases actors like Vir Das, Varun Sood, Gurfateh Pirzada, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur. The production company behind it is Dharmatic Entertainment, with Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra overseeing the project in executive roles.
