As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that these latest leaks have left me feeling like a kid who’s just been told there’s no candy in the candy store. After the tantalizing teasers for Black Ops 7 and the promise of a return to form, the news that it’s been scrapped in favor of MW4 is a hard pill to swallow.
Following two years of ordinary performance in Modern Warfare games, there was great anticipation that Treyarch would take control, offering a pair of Black Ops installments. This excitement grew even stronger as hints about Black Ops 6 were dropped, suggesting it could be the most exciting Call of Duty game in years.
According to earlier rumors, it has been suggested that the studio Treyarch is working on a series of consecutive games, and these games are expected to have a similar style to Black Ops 2. The seventh installment in this series might be released in the year 2025.
However, recent leaks suggest that the production of Black Ops 7 (or the yet-unnamed Treyarch game in 2025) has supposedly been halted, and there are indications that Warzone 2 might be approaching an uncertain conclusion as well.
Black Ops 2025 has reportedly been scrapped in favour of MW4
According to recent news, there’s been some turmoil surrounding Modern Warfare 4, which is being developed by Infinity Ward. The issue seems to stem from Black Ops’ innovative omnimovement system, a significant departure from the traditional slower-paced and more casual-friendly style of the Modern Warfare series. Reports suggest that Infinity Ward is under pressure from Activision because they are allegedly dissatisfied with the game’s narrative and mechanics.
It appears that Modern Warfare 4 could indeed be on the horizon, with the source “CoDWarfare” suggesting a release in 2025.
2025 will not see the release of a Black Ops 7 game; instead, Modern Warfare 4 is being developed by Infinity Ward, according to their statement on X (previously known as Twitter).
The webpage shared information suggesting that the name “Rex” (which stands for MW4’s codename) is set for 2025, but the announcement about Project Saturn being named Black Ops 7 (referred to as “Sat”) has been changed or cancelled.
Warzone 3 is reportedly in the works
As a gaming enthusiast, I was taken aback to discover that there seems to be a Warzone 3 tucked away in the game’s files. This hidden gem could indicate significant changes ahead for the franchise we’ve grown fond of, potentially leaving behind our beloved skins once more.
It seems like Modern Warfare 4 (Rex) could be the third installment of Battle Royale (BR), implying that we may have just a few more months left with Verdansk before moving on, since it was initially intended to debut with Black Ops 6 and has been postponed until around Season 2 instead.
It seems that Warzone 2 has failed to meet some people’s expectations. Reviving Verdansk at this point, as a symbolic ending for Warzone 2, could be quite daring. Instead, it might have made more sense to introduce it as the start of the anticipated Warzone 3.
