Cameron Diaz Reveals If She Would Be Open to Returning for a ‘Mask’ Sequel

Cameron Diaz is possibly looking for another good time with The Mask.

After appearing on Netflix’s “Back in Action” following an absence of ten years, the actress has expressed interest in taking up her character again for a possible sequel to the 1994 film “The Mask”, which originally starred Jim Carrey. She shared this news with Access Hollywood.

As a die-hard fan, if Jim is on team sequel, well, it’s like I’ve hitched my dreams to his star since the very beginning!

In the movie titled “The Mask“, Diaz portrayed Tina Carlyle. The story revolves around Stanley Ipkiss, played by Carrey, who is an ordinary bank clerk. However, when he dons a peculiar green mask, he undergoes a transformation into a boisterous superhero known as The Mask. This film was helmed by Chuck Russell in its direction.

Previously, Carrey expressed his willingness to don the famous green mask yet again if a sequel was to take place.

He expressed, ‘Indeed, it needs to be the perfect concept.’ He said this to Comicbook.com previously. ‘If someone comes up with the right plan, who knows… It’s not primarily about the money. I often joke about the money… Yet, one can never be certain about such matters. I mentioned I’d like to retire, but it seemed more like a desire for a break – or ‘power-resting.’ As soon as an excellent idea presents itself, or a team I genuinely enjoyed collaborating with, things have a way of shifting.’

In another part of her interview with Access, Diaz expressed her willingness for a reunion of the girl group to possibly star in a sequel to the 2000’s Charlie’s Angels movie. The actress previously played one of the angels alongside Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Bill Murray as Bosley in the original film.

Diaz expressed her excitement, saying it would be fantastic. Foxx, her partner from ‘Back in Action’, chimed in, sharing his readiness to join the cast for a potential sequel by stating he’d be willing to take on the role of Bosley.

“I’m gonna text her [Liu] right now and pitch her Jamie as Bosley,” The Holiday star quipped.

In the year 2019, Elizabeth Banks took on both directing duties and acting roles in the reboot of “Charlie’s Angels.” The film included Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska among its cast members.
