As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that I, along with Aaron Eckhart, will be part of the cast for “The Old Man in the Dunes,” an uplifting thriller produced by Angel Studios. Known for movies like “Sound of Freedom” and “The King of Kings,” this faith-based distributor is bringing another inspiring story to life. Can’t wait to see it unfold!
The narrative, inspired by an acclaimed short film, follows the tale of a mysterious elderly man dwelling in the sand dunes. He is falsely accused of murdering a resident, and his last resort lies with a resolute lawyer striving to expose the real truth. As described in the plot summary, the story delves into the human psyche, highlighting the repercussions of hiding the truth and the salvation that can stem from confessing wrongdoings.
Christian Guiton penned “The Old Man in the Dunes” and is set to make his directorial debut with this feature. Noli Molla, Mark Holder, and Jacques Abrahamian are producing for Wonder Street. The project is scheduled to start filming in the latter part of 2021, with a projected release date in 2026. Angel Studios will distribute the film domestically, while Cloud9 Studios will handle international distribution. They’ll be showcasing this project to potential buyers at the Cannes Film Market next week.
The schedule for Cloud9’s Cannes lineup features Barry Levinson’s thriller “Assassination,” starring Jessica Chastain, Brendan Fraser, Al Pacino, and Bryan Cranston. This project commences shooting this summer, alongside the romantic comedy “Under the Stars” featuring Toni Collette and Andy Garcia. Currently, Wonder Street is in the process of producing Mark Wahlberg’s movie “By Any Means,” and are preparing for Naomi Watts’ film titled “The Housewife.
Angel Studios is currently basking in the triumph of “The King of Kings,” an animated production by South Korean studio Mofac Animation chronicling the life of Jesus Christ, featuring a star-studded voice cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Ben Kingsley, Mark Hamill, and Forest Whitaker. This film has amassed almost $60 million at the domestic box office so far. Notably, Angel Studios initially gained significant attention with “The Sound of Freedom,” a movie directed by Alejandro Monteverde, which generated over $184 million domestically and more than $250 million globally but has since been linked to the QAnon conspiracy theory in public discourse.
Eckhart is represented by CAA and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman.
