10 years since Masaan, filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan is returning to the illustrious Cannes Film Festival. His movie, Homebound, featuring stars like Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa, has been chosen for the Un Certain Regard section. Producer Karan Johar shared his joy, referring to it as a ‘beacon of hope.’
The upcoming 78th Cannes Film Festival is scheduled from May 13 to May 24, 2025. Today, April 10, the films for the Official Selection were revealed. Neeraj Ghaywan’s second movie titled “Homebound” will make its debut in the Un Certain Regard category during the festival.
Following the announcement, filmmaker Karan Johar revealed additional details about the upcoming movie on Instagram. He posted photos featuring cast members Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor. Notably, Neeraj Ghaywan is both the writer and director of this production. It’s a joint effort by producers Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. Marijke deSouza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier serve as co-producers for the project.
Overflowing with pride and admiration, I can’t help but exclaim: “Karan’s words resonate deeply within me as a passionate Indian cinema enthusiast. This moment stands as a beacon, demonstrating the might of our films, their unique narratives, exceptional talents, and distinct perspectives to the world! For years, I dared to dream that one of our movies would grace such a prestigious global stage. And lo and behold, here we are!
He also stated, “Neeraj Ghaywan, this triumph isn’t only a victory for our film industry, it serves as a shining example for aspiring filmmakers, encouraging them to explore new horizons and express their unique perspectives, grounded in our culture! You are indeed that guiding light!

Apart from acting, Janhvi Kapoor expressed her feelings with a touching message. It read, “We’re bursting with excitement and can hardly contain ourselves until we share this journey with everyone on the silver screen!
Ishaan Khatter expressed, “We’re off to Cannes with ‘HOMEBOUND’. A role that felt extraordinary since it first came into my world, marking my most difficult assignment so far. Such is the stuff that dreams are crafted from.
