Capcom Lays Out Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Future In New Interview

As a seasoned gamer with years of RPG experience under my belt, I must say that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been a rollercoaster ride. Initially, it faced its share of criticisms, but like a phoenix rising from the ashes, it has transformed into an exceptional game over time. The recent updates, including the 60 FPS mode, have been nothing short of delightful.

                                                                           Story Highlights

  • Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one the best RPGs to release this year for modern-day platforms.
  • The title, despite coming out several months ago, continues to receive updates from Capcom.
  • The developer has now planned a fairly special update for Dragon’s Dogma 2 in light of the PS5 Pro.

Initially met with criticism for various reasons, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has managed to overcome its initial setbacks and transform into an improved game over time following its release. In fact, the game recently introduced a 60 FPS mode as Capcom released a new update. Interestingly, it appears that Capcom is not finished fine-tuning the game just yet.

In a recent conversation with Famitsu, developers were inquired about potential updates for Dragon’s Dogma 2. The team affirmatively responded that Capcom intends to continue supporting the JRPG, specifically tailoring updates for the PlayStation 5 Pro, ensuring an enhanced experience for players who plan on purchasing this upcoming console and enjoying this popular game title.

In the upcoming period, Capcom has confirmed that they will be releasing an update to enhance compatibility with PS5 Pro and squash some existing bugs.

In the same conversation, the creators subtly steered clear of promises yet hinted that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has seen significant gameplay enhancements since its release, primarily due to feedback from fans like me who requested it when the JRPG first came out.

In our continuous efforts to enhance the gaming experience since its launch, we’ve rolled out modifications focusing largely on optimizing gameplay. Our decisions on these tweaks are primarily influenced by input from a diverse group of players, both local and global. However, not all suggestions can be easily executed due to technical constraints, and some may require substantial time to address.

In simpler terms, although there may be additional story content for Dragon’s Dogma 2 in the form of downloadable content (DLC) at some point, it probably won’t be released right away.

The PS5 Pro Is Getting A Ton Of More Optimized Games On Launch

The PlayStation 5 Pro is set to arrive on store shelves in November this year, and according to Sony’s present strategy, numerous major titles are slated to debut, optimized for the console upon its release. Besides Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can anticipate Lies of P and God of War Ragnarok receiving upgrades with enhanced graphics and seamless gameplay tailored exclusively for the upcoming system.

The sequel to Dragon’s Dogma, titled Dragon’s Dogma 2, made its debut on March 22, 2024, and was available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. Within just two months of its release, it managed to sell a staggering 2 million copies. The Japanese Role-Playing Game (JRPG) received an impressive rating of 4.5/5.0 from eXputer in their review at the time, with author Huzaifah Durrani expressing his admiration for the game during that period.

Although its performance might fall short, it’s important to remember that Dragon’s Dogma 2 remains one of the top-tier role-playing games ever created.
