As a long-time Marvel fan and avid follower of the cinematic universe, I can confidently say that the upcoming “Captain America: Brave New World” is shaping up to be an exhilarating addition to the franchise. The introduction of Sam Wilson as Captain America in his standalone film is highly anticipated, especially after his compelling performance in “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Titled “Captain America: A New Era,” the upcoming film will officially unveil Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie) as the new Captain America in early 2023, following his assumption of the role in Disney+’s series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” His inaugural adversary promises to be challenging, with many speculating that even the original super-powered Steve Rogers would have struggled against him. In “A New Era,” Sam Wilson’s Captain America will face off against Red Hulk, portrayed by Harrison Ford, who already appears to be a formidable opponent. To stand toe-to-toe against the enraged gamma-enhanced President of the United States, Wilson must devise a clever strategy to prevent being overpowered by Red Hulk.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, it was disclosed by the filmmakers of “Captain America: Brave New World” and Marvel Studios veteran Nate Moore that they had to be inventive in arranging a one-on-one battle between Sam Wilson and Red Hulk. As suggested by earlier previews, Captain America’s new superhero attire includes vibranium wings and a suit, along with some clever tactics hidden within. Even with these enhancements, Wilson will primarily need to evade the majority of Red Hulk’s blows and occasionally use his newly designed wings to block them. A spoiler alert: He won’t be taking a super soldier serum, so he’ll definitely feel the impact when he gets struck.
In my role as a fight choreographer, I devised sequences where I incorporated extra limbs for our character, essentially extending his capabilities to endure Hulk’s punches. However, he does everything within his power to evade those situations. This tactic is evident in the action sequence; trust me, it’s no fun when he gets hit.
Many fans pondered the plot of “Brave New World” when it was announced that a multitude of villains like Red Hulk, the Leader, and the Serpent Society would be involved. Additionally, some questioned whether Sam Wilson could effectively battle them without possessing superhuman abilities. Although the meaning behind the “Brave New World” title remains somewhat vague, it’s evident that the movie won’t shy away from showcasing Captain America’s vulnerabilities and instead transforming them into a source of his resilience, albeit painfully.
‘Captain America 4’ Ushers in a New World Order (& Hulk)
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I can tell you that the highly anticipated Marvel Studios production, “Captain America: Brave New World,” has been through its fair share of intriguing production tales. Recent rumors suggest that extensive reshoots have been ongoing, even as recently as this month. It appears that Marvel Studios is leaving no stone unturned in their quest to make “Brave New World” as flawless as possible, given a few less-than-stellar big-screen outings they’ve had lately.
The Red Hulk, who looks like an uncontrolled version of Bruce Banner’s green Hulk, will also retain some characteristics of General Ross when he transforms into the massive form. This could potentially provide a way for Captain America to beat him in “Captain America: Brave New World.
In our comic book adaptation, The Red Hulk isn’t just a mindless beast. There’s a distinctly human aspect to his character, mirroring Ross’s own personality better. So, we’re aiming to bring out these human traits in the portrayal of The Red Hulk.
