Captain America Gets His Infinity War Skin in Marvel Rivals

It’s clear that the Marvel Cinematic Universe significantly impacted the character portrayals in Marvel Rivals, with several characters having MCU-themed skins at launch. Regrettably, Captain America was not among those who had a MCU skin available initially.

The upcoming changes are being announced by NetEase, featuring a new crossover with skins modeled after characters from Avengers: Infinity War, and also introducing a futuristic 2099 skin for Luna Snow.

Infinity War Cap and Mirae 2099 Luna

I was totally hyped when Marvel Rivals officially unveiled their fresh skins for Captain America and Luna Snow on their social media! The fan reactions have been off-the-charts for both of them. You gotta check it out!

In the game, these two skins have been categorized as Legendary, implying they will have a high unit cost, roughly ranging from 1,800 to 2,000 units. Given that NetEase primarily earns revenue through cosmetics, it’s reasonable to assume that these skins won’t be available for free anytime in the near future.

Captain America – Avengers: Infinity War

In the game, Cap typically employs a single shield. However, recent gameplay clips show that he dons both Vibranium gauntlets seen in the film. This cosmetic alteration doesn’t affect his game mechanics though; his shield-wielding ability functions as expected.

His MVP reel displayed the same transformation seen in “Infinity War,” featuring a darkened costume, long beard, and unruly hair. In fact, this costume could be called the Steve Rogers persona, as he relinquished the Captain America title by “Infinity War”; he had even handed over the shield to Iron Man during “Captain America: Civil War.

Luna Snow – Mirae 2099

In relation to Luna, the Korean word “Mirae” signifies ‘future’, making it apt for a Cyberpunk-inspired skin to carry this name, specifically titled “Mirae 2099”, as this is the same year the Tokyo map is set.

Even though it’s evident that Luna possesses a music background within the game, this skin embodies her pop-star persona entirely. The visual and audio cues, such as musical notes and sound bars, reflect this identity. Furthermore, Luna’s MVP reel showcases her giving a concert, making it an exciting addition for players who appreciate Luna’s in-game portrayal as a pop star.

Expect More Drops

Currently, the first season of “Marvel Rivals” continues, and although fans anticipate additional cosmetic items tied to the Lunar New Year, NetEase has clarified that they have no specific guidelines for what they plan to reveal during this season.

Fans are hopeful that there’ll be a mid-season update coming up, which is anticipated to introduce the Human Torch and the Thing into the game. Given NetEase’s promise of adding new characters every 1.5 months, it seems like we might need to wait until around February’s middle for the big reveal.

While I’m eagerly waiting for my favorite hero’s updates, it’d be great if NetEase could shine the spotlight on some lesser-known characters in this game too. Plus, I’ve been hoping to see some requested cosmetics make an appearance since the game launched back in December. Here’s to hoping they listen!

Where’s the First Avenger Captain America skin? How about a first appearance Iron Man?
