The Marvel Universe consistently excites fans due to its continuous release of movies both in theaters and on Disney+. Coming soon is “Captain America: Brave New World,” marking the first time Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson takes center stage as the lead character. Recently, the 46-year-old actor expressed agreement with those online who made connections between the film and current politics by using a strong language. In my opinion, I share his sentiments as well.
Information regarding “Captain America: Brave New World” is scarce as we’ve only seen a small amount of footage prior to its release in February. However, following the election and inauguration, there have been discussions online likening Harrison Ford’s character, President Ross/ Red Hulk, to President Trump. In an interview with Esquire about the project, Anthony Mackie didn’t shy away from expressing his thoughts on this comparison, stating:
As a nation, I sincerely hope we’ve grown weary of constant political disputes. Perhaps it’s time for us all to unwind at the cinema and enjoy some tranquility. Even if we had painted this situation yellow, it still might have caused a stir.
To put it simply, folks who’ve followed along with Marvel films for years understand that each blockbuster takes quite some time to develop and produce. Production on Captain America 4 actually started as early as March 2023, even before a shift in the administration occurred. Instead of letting politics taint our enjoyment of entertainment, let’s just immerse ourselves in the delightful world of Marvel movies without linking it too closely to reality.
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but see why some viewers are perceiving parallels between “Captain America: Brave New World” and current events. Given that the film appears to be set in Washington D.C., and features a U.S. President as a key character, it’s only natural for speculation to arise, isn’t it?
Initially, it was leaked in the promotional phase that Harrison Ford’s character Thaddeus Ross would transform into the Red Hulk during the 2025 movie release. The anticipation among fans is high as they eagerly await how Sam Wilson will confront him without having been administered the Super Soldier Serum. Some online communities have drawn comparisons between Red Hulk and former President Trump. For your convenience, you can watch the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World below:
The news of Harrison Ford joining the cast for “Captain America: Brave New World” certainly sparked enthusiasm among fans. However, this development came following the unfortunate demise of William Hurt in 2022, who originally played the role. Not only does Ford take on the enduring MCU character, but he also delved into motion capture to animate the Red Hulk for the big screen.
Time alone will reveal the audience’s reaction to Captain America 4 when it premieres on Valentine’s Day. The film faces significant anticipation as it follows the massive success of Deadpool and Wolverine, so here’s hoping Marvel delivers another triumphant production.
