As a seasoned skater and Berlin resident with a keen eye for fashion, I must say that the Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) x Civilist collaboration has truly struck a chord with me. The blend of workwear heritage and Berlin’s skateboarding culture is not just a fashion statement, but a testament to the city’s vibrant energy and artistic expression.
Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) and the Berlin skate store Civilist have teamed up again to produce a limited collection of six items. This collaboration combines Carhartt WIP‘s history in workwear with Civilist’s strong connections to Berlin’s skateboarding scene, creating a distinct fusion of style and practicality.
This set showcases an Active Jacket, Brandon Short, and a crewneck sweatshirt, each embellished with graphic patches and embroidery inspired by intaglio art. Similar graphics can be found on various t-shirts and skate decks, offered in two sizes. The color scheme emphasizes bold shades of blue, vibrant green, white, and black, mirroring the dynamic energy of Berlin’s skating culture.
Alongside this collection, you’ll find a video produced by Berlin-based artist Finley Stewart from the creative collective Tor Studio. This video features members of the Civilist crew, portrayed in a low-poly graphic style, which underscores the fusion of urban culture and artistic expression that this collection embodies.
You can now get your hands on the Carhartt WIP x Civilist collection, which is available only at Civilist’s official website and their Berlin brick-and-mortar store.
