As a long-time New Yorker myself, I can’t help but be thrilled about Carlos Nazario‘s debut collection for Moose Knuckles! Growing up in the concrete jungle, outerwear was more than just a shield against the elements; it was a badge of honor, a symbol of personal style.
Approximately a year ago, Carlos Nazario became part of the Moose Knuckles team, taking on the role as Global Artistic Director for their outerwear brand. Now, it has been announced that this Canada-based label will be introducing its “Moose Labs” series of collaborative collections, with New York native Nazario’s initial release marking the start.
In a collection consisting of twelve unique designs, Nazario creatively reinterprets some iconic styles from Moose Knuckles by blending his distinctive New York City design perspective. Drawing inspiration largely from the vibrant 1990’s hip-hop culture, he skillfully combines functional practicality with elements of protection found in the brand’s historical military-influenced pieces from their archive.
In Nazario’s own words, “I see outerwear as more than just practicality; it’s a vital aspect of personal style expression. As a New York City native, I spent a lot of time outdoors, and my outerwear choices were a reflection of my individual aesthetic. This collection is inspired by the coats that instilled a sense of sophistication in me, combining Moose Knuckles’ Canadian military heritage with exceptional craftsmanship and quality that discerning buyers will admire. There’s an undeniable air of glamour throughout this collection, echoing our bold, stylish approach to designing outerwear.
The initial Moose Labs launch predominantly focuses on jackets, featuring styles such as bombers, bikers, pilot jackets, and parkas. For a more refined look, there are floor-length parkas and coats available. Additionally, leather pants, mittens, and pilot hats add a utilitarian touch to the lineup. The entire collection showcases attention to detail, with all garments boasting top-quality materials like leather, Mongolian wool, down, or shearling.
