After the successful launch of her adidas Originals collection in November, Caroline Hu introduces a new set of three Samba designs, all draped in silk.
Hu’s recent take on the fashion sneaker that was once associated with football, elegantly transforms it into a high-end accessory with plush folds of sumptuous silk fabric. The “silk-encased” design accentuates intricate gathers, offering a delicate yet assertive statement.
The Silk Sambas come in three colors: “Power Red,” “Dark Blue,” and “Silver Metallic.” The red and silver options have off-white Three Stripes, while the blue version boasts striking metallic stripes. The leather stripes, contrasting with the silky frills, provide a nice balance to the design. The red and blue versions continue their primary colors on the sockliner and laces, but the silver one features a white heel and laces, creating a subtle contrast against the shiny metallic silk.
Despite having a less flashy feel compared to her previous projects like Reverie and Superstar, the distinctive artisan touch in this release by Hu is still evidently present. One notable detail is that Hu’s name is engraved on the tag located at the shoe’s tongue, giving it a unique, personalized flair.
