- Le Zoo, the hush-hush new release from Mother Games, finally has a teaser trailer
- Mixing in animation and live-action, it gives us more about this upcoming release
- We’ve also got more behind-the-scenes info
Among the secretive games being worked on right now, it’s Le Zoo that has caught my attention the most. This unique blend of puzzles, player-versus-player interactions, and cooperative gameplay has been largely hidden by developer Mother Games. However, a fresh teaser trailer gives us our first real glimpse into this ambitious project, which is scheduled for release this year.
Presented as an upcoming Role-Playing Game (RPG), the sneak peek combines both animated and live-action segments. Similar to the rest of the team behind Mother Games’ major debut, the trailer features animation overseen by Disney veterans like Giacomo Mora. Dina Amer and Kelsey Falter are in charge of directing this production that boasts animation by Mora.
One captivating yet debatable feature about Lee Zoo is the addition of AI-created Non-Player Characters (NPCs). This blend includes custom NPCs designed using artificial intelligence, as well as five large language models inspired by “Buddhist teachings” and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. In any case, Lee Zoo guarantees an oddly compelling adventure.
Just for you
As a gamer, I find myself torn when it comes to Le Zoo. While the incorporation of AI gives me a slight hesitation and the term “trippy” doesn’t exactly appeal to me, there’s no denying that Mother Games has managed to assemble an impressive team for this project. Talents like Brian Alcazar, formerly of Rockstar, handling sound and production design, and Christof Stanits, an award-winning artist, are definitely a draw. However, the AI aspect and the “trippy” description still make me wonder if Le Zoo is the game for me.
In such a manner, it’s hard to label them as lacking in inspiration and creativity. The idea of crafting something tailored to each player seems unusual to me, yet I can’t help but be both wary and curious about it. After all, we’ll only know how Le Zoo turns out upon its release before forming a final opinion; for now, I find myself equally cautious and intrigued by the notion.
