In Monster Hunter Wilds, there are five fishing side quests, one of which is named Razzle Dazzle. This mission tasks players with catching a Grand Escunite. You can unlock this mission once you’ve finished the Lurking Shadows main story mission in Chapter 4, but only after you’ve wrapped up The Catch of a Lifetime.
To begin the adventure, gamers must converse with Kanya at the Scarlet Forest base camp. This interaction will lead her to give them a Tentacle Jig and set them off on their journey. Fortunately, players of Monster Hunter Wilds won’t have to traverse vast distances to find a Grand Esunite, as these can only be discovered within the forest.
Where to Find a Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds (Grand Escunite Location)
To locate the Grand Escunite, adventurers need to navigate towards the subterranean grotto situated north of the number 8 marker in the Scarlet Forest. This secretive entrance is camouflaged behind a waterfall. If they previously scouted this cave for a Goldenfish and established a camp, they can warp instantly to their base. Upon arrival, they should submerge themselves in the water and swim towards the platform at the rear of the cave, then search for a crustacean with a turquoise hue.
Some players claim they find the Grand Escunite more frequently during the evenings and nights. If you’re having trouble locating it, perhaps trying to rest at a nearby temporary camp to move forward in time could be beneficial.
How to Catch a Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds
Players trying to land a Grand Escunite during their quest might want to employ Kanya’s Tentacle Jig. Much like the Fishing for Flavor side mission, a gentle wiggle of the lure is necessary to pique the fish’s curiosity. The Grand Escunite will often appear just as it’s about to bite, making it tricky to discern when it’s actually on the hook. Therefore, players should exercise patience and wait until they see its tentacles tugging at the lure before starting to reel it in.

Once they successfully capture a Grand Escunite, players should return to Kanya at the Scarlet Forest base camp. After watching a longer-than-normal cut scene, they’ll be rewarded with five items, three of one type, two of another type, and again five of yet another item. Additionally, they’ll receive 300 Guild Points, a helpful addition for those aiming to boost their Hunter Rank or advance the main storyline.
