Art the Clown has emerged as an unexpected and startling horror icon in recent cinema, particularly in his franchise. Yet, he was present much earlier than when he transformed into the record-breaking masochistic slayer that viewers have grown fond of across his three films. A pivotal, heart-wrenching scene involving actress [Actress’s Name] and a hacksaw propelled him into becoming one of the most enigmatic villains to appear on screens in years. Nearly a decade after being killed off in an extraordinarily violent and explicit manner, the actress has reminisced about her role in turning the unrated killer into a global phenomenon.
On March 21st, Corcoran will kick off the initial episode of Shout! TV’s show “Double Take.” This program will air two movies in recognition of Women’s History Month. Prior to this, she had a chat with ComingSoon about her involvement in Damien Leonie’s “Terrifier” and how it transformed into something far beyond its original intentions. In simpler terms, she discussed her work on the film and how it unexpectedly evolved into something much more significant than originally planned.
It’s surprising when people inquire about the meaning of establishing a slasher villain like Art the Clown during the production of Terrifier, as none of us anticipated its massive success. However, Damien did tell me during the hacksaw scene shoot that night, ‘Catherine, are you ready to make horror movie history?’ I responded skeptically, thinking no one would watch it, but here we are today.
Catherine Corcoran Feel Privileged to Be Part of Art’s Journey
Although some might hesitate at the thought of portraying a gruesome scene of being completely exposed and brutally divided by a psychotic clown, Corcoran understands that her role wasn’t just for amusement. It took Leonie six long years to bring Terrifier 2 to life, but when it did, it soared to great heights. With Terrifier 3 testing the boundaries of audience discomfort and box office earnings, the actress is fully aware that she was involved in something extraordinary as early as 2016.
The project continues to grow larger and larger, transforming into something truly colossal. It’s as if it’s evolved into an unparalleled entity. There seems to be a unique and extraordinary connection among Damien, Jenna Kanell, Sam Scaffidi, David Howard Thornton, and myself that is unlike any other collaboration in the franchise. Unlike others who have joined later, we were driven purely by our passion for the game. Can you imagine taking something initially made on a budget of $30,000 and turning it into this global phenomenon? If this iconic villain of our time is a symbol of this era, I feel truly honored to have played a role in its creation. That’s quite a powerful sentiment.
At present, Leonie is engaged in the production of “Terrifier 4”. This film aims to ground the franchise after the significant supernatural shift in its previous two installments, and potentially serve as the concluding chapter for Art’s narrative. For Corcoran and everyone else involved, including the talented Lauren LaVera, Samantha Scaffidi, and David Howard Thornton (Art himself), it has been an extraordinary voyage…and there’s still a bit more to come.
