Roark assumed the position in August, following Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews’ announcement that she would be departing from the news division. Ciprian-Matthews had served as head of CBS News for just a year before making this decision.

According to reports, Paramount Global, which owns CBS News, is supposedly engaged in negotiations for a settlement with former President Trump regarding his 20-billion-dollar lawsuit against 60 Minutes. The lawsuit stems from an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, which has become the focus of an FCC investigation and may potentially delay the sale to Skydance. The CBS News team is upset about the prospect of a settlement, as they view the edit in question as inconsequential.
