Celebrities Protest Kanye West in Viral AI Video; Scarlett Johansson Makes Statement

Top Hollywood stars have banded together to protest Kanye West‘s antisemitism — sort of.

Below, you’ll find a viral video showing popular Jewish personalities like David Schwimmer, Steven Spielberg, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Scarlett Johansson, Sacha Baron Cohen, among others, donning T-shirts criticizing Kanye West. The video arises in response to West’s inflammatory antisemitic remarks on social media and his selling of a shirt with a swastika symbol on his website. The clip ends with the message “Enough is Enough” and “Join us in the Battle Against Antisemitism.

The video that appeared to be a real-life protest wasn’t; instead, it was artificially created by AI. At least one celebrity who was depicted in the video has since voiced their concerns.

In an interview with People magazine, Johansson voiced her disapproval of deepfake videos regardless of their underlying motives: “Recently, I’ve been informed by my family and friends that a computer-generated video portraying my likeness in reaction to an antisemitic viewpoint has been spreading on the internet and gaining popularity. As a Jewish woman, I have zero tolerance for antisemitism or any form of hate speech. However, I am deeply concerned about the increased danger that artificial intelligence poses to spreading hate speech. If we don’t take action against the misuse of AI technology, regardless of its content, we may lose our grip on reality.

It doesn’t mean that all the actors featured in the video haven’t spoken out against West’s actions in reality.

Actress Isla Fisher has appeared in a video and previously expressed her thoughts about T-shirt sales on Instagram: “Hey folks, I kindly ask you to unfollow Kanye. It’s worth noting that his website only offers these T-shirts following a Super Bowl commercial. I strongly disapprove of this and will never tolerate such behavior. #NoTolerance.

Schwimmer urged Elon Musk, through Instagram, to ban the rapper’s account due to his offensive and ignorant remarks: “We can’t prevent a hate-monger from spreading harmful rhetoric, but we can deprive him of a platform, Mr. Musk. Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your site, which is more than double the number of Jews in existence. The harmful words he uses can lead to actual violence against Jews.”

During his series of tweets, the musician openly expressed admiration for Hitler and referred to himself as a supporter of Nazism.

Hey there, on a Tuesday, my Twitter account (previously known as West’s X) got shut down. I penned down: ‘Signing off Twitter (now X). Thanks Elon for giving me the space to vent. It was incredibly therapeutic to use the global audience as an outlet.’
